Jim Thorpe police have arrested Richard J. Hartman, 36, of 10 Cedar Ave., Jim Thorpe, on charges of access device fraud, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.

The arrest stems from a complaint police received on Sept. 12 from Peggy Ann Hausman, the victim, who told her she believed her nephew, Richard Hartman, stole her credit/debit card and made several unauthorized transactions with it.

Police said the transactions occurred on Sept. 2, 3, 6 and 8 with the total money withdrawal being $400.

Two Carbon County residents are facing drug charges.

State police at Lehighton said Anthony Borrelli, 25, and Danielle Eremus, 23, of 621 White St., Bowmanstown, were found in possession of cocaine and related drug paraphernalia on Wednesday, Jan. 4, about 4:10 p.m. at their residence.

Jim Thorpe police have arrested Toni M. Shistle, 21, of New Philadelphia, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the incident happened at 2:10 a.m. Nov. 20, 2011, along Susquehanna Street in the borough.

Police said they observed a blue Toyota sedan on the south lane shoulder of the road (Route 209) with its brake lights on and the vehicle running. Upon approaching the vehicle, police said they observed the driver and passenger switch seats.

Jim Thorpe police have arrested a 15-year-old boy from Summit Hill with simple assault and criminal mischief as a result of an incident that happened during the school day on Dec. 9, 2011 at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute.

Police said they were summoned there at 10:38 a.m. to investigate a reported assault, and learned the boy had thrown a piston at another student, knocking out two of his front teeth.

Nesquehoning police reported on the following citations recently issued by officers .

Officer Dane O'Brien issued the following. On Dec. 1 for reckless driving and careless driving; duty of a driver in emergency response area at the same location; and obedience to authorized persons directing traffic. All citations issued at the intersection of state routes 93 and 209.

Dec. 10 and 14, expired registration at SR209 and Mermon and Catawissa sts.; Dec. 15, red light violation at Mermon and Catawissa sts.; and expired registration on Dec. 29 at Allen and Catawissa sts.

Jim Thorpe police have reported the arrest of Katelyn Roth, 22, of 21 W. Third St., Jim Thorpe, on various charges, including DUI of a controlled substance, as a result of an accident at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 4 of last year on the Lentz Trail.

Police said she was driving a Dodge Caravan that rolled over and came to rest on its roof against a PPL utility pole. Police said Roth stated she tried to avoid hitting an animal that had entered the road in front of the Caravan, causing her to lose control of it.

Matthew Hausman, 24, of 57 Race St., Jim Thorpe, has been arrested by borough police on charges of simple assault and harassment.

The charges stem from an incident on Nov. 6 of last year.

Police said they were called on the above date at 6:41 p.m. to the emergency room of the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, where a Jared Novy told them he had been assaulted by Hausman. Novy told police Hausman arrived unannounced at his residence at 402 South St. and began attacking him, striking him three times with a closed fist in the head.

State police at Lehighton reported they are investigating an assault incident.

Troopers said the incident occurred about 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 35 Blackberry Lane, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township.

Troopers said Terry D. Billman, 47, of that address, was struck in the face with a closed fist several times by a 46-year-old male who also resides at that address.

Troopers did not identify the suspect of the assault pending completion of the investigation.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported the arrest of a Monroe County resident on outstanding warrants.

Police said about 2:56 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, officers were dispatched to the area of 5 Mailbox Road and Mary St., in Pocono Lake, for a dispute between family members.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on a two-vehicle crash probed by officers that occurred about 7:41 a.m. on Dec. 31 at along Kuhenbeaaker Road, at the entrance to High Country Estates, Tunkhannock Township.

Police said Shannon Kelly, of Albrightsville, was driving eastbound and entering a right-hand curve in the road when she lost control due to ice on the road surface. Her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a vehicle operated by Mita Thakker, of Mt. Pocono. Upon impact Thakker's vehicle left the road and came to rest in a field.
