A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 2:12 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, along SR904, east of Brady's Lake, in Pocono Lake, Tobyhanna Township.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers conducted a traffic stop for motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Shawn Kingsley, 30, of Pocono Lake. It was determined that Kingsley had been consuming alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

A Schuylkill County resident is facing a charge of retail theft.

State police at Frackville said Brian L. Dietrick, 40, of Ashland, has been charged with the count, a felony, for an incident at the Kmart store in the Schuylkill Mall, New Castle Township.

Troopers allege that Dietrick entered the store about 1:36 p.m on July 5 and removed merchandise from the electronics department without paying for it.

Dietrick was arraigned before duty District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Minor injuries were reported in a one vehicle crash in Schuylkill County. It was one of two reported by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said Denise D. Olechnowicz, 58, of Pottsville, was driving a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck southbound on SR61 in West Brunswick Township, about 2:05 p.m. on Monday, July 25. She lost control and the truck traveled onto the shoulder where it struck an embankment. The truck traveled for about 58 feet along the embankment before rolling over onto the passenger side, where it came to rest.

Charges are pending against a Schuylkill County driver following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 26. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred along SR4002 (Valley Road), in the village of Heckscherville, Cass Township.

Troopers said Tyrone Leiby, 24, of Minersville, was driving a 1990 Jeep Cherokee westbound when he lost control. The Jeep left the road and struck a utility pole. Leiby was not injured.

Troopers said Leiby is facing several charges that are pending a blood test result.

A Brockton driver is facing charges following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 4:10 p.m. on Monday, July 25, along Pinedale Industrial Road in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

Doris Cohen, 50, of 366 East Alley, Lehighton, has been cited by Lehighton police for allowing a dog to run at large.

Cohen was initially cited at 5:30 p.m. July 8 for allowing the dog to roam the 300 block of North Second Street.

Police said the second violation happened at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 25, when the dog was running loose in the vicinity of the 300 block of East Alley.

Allowing a dog to run loose is a violation of a borough ordinance.

State police at Frackville are investigating a burglary at a Schuylkill County business.

Troopers said the Tastee Freeze building, located at 63 Ringtown Blvd., Shenandoah Heights, in West Mahanoy Township, was entered sometime between 12:45 and 1:20 a.m. on Monday, July 25.

The criminals pried open a rear door of the business to gain entry. Once inside they went through the business and then fled. Nothing was apparently taken. The building is owned by Louann Rader, troopers noted.

An out-of-state tractor trailer operator is facing charges following a crash along Interstate 81 in Delano Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred about 9:53 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.

Four persons have been charged, including two juveniles, in connection with theft of vehicle incidents in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the four were arrested on Monday, July 25, in connection with theft from vehicle incidents that were reported on July 15. The theft incidents were reported in the Pocono Farms development in Coolbaugh Township.

Several residents reported their vehicles were entered and various items removed.

The Lehigh County Coroner's Office is seeking the next of kin for two persons who were found deceased.

The next of kin for Larry F. Abreu, 60, of 36 S. Fifth St., Allentown, is being sought. Abreu was found dead in his apartment on Monday, July 25, about 1:28 p.m when friends went to check on his well being. The coroner's office attributed death to natural causes.
