State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on crashes investigated by troopers over the past holiday weekend along Schuylkill County roads.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, along the New Philadelphia Road (SR2003), in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Stacy L. Salaki, 32, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2010 Pontiac G6 northbound and negotiating a right hand cuve when she lost control. The car traveled onto the berm where the front end struck a block wall at 156 New Philadelphia Road, and came to rest.

Erik Joseph Hertweck, 30, of 456 Unionville Road, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, is facing charges of hit-and-run and endangering the welfare of children as a result of an incident at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 8 in Jim Thorpe.

Police said they were dispatched to 12 W. Sixth St. to investigate a hit-and-run incident and learned Hertweck was driving a silver Nissan Pathfinder when he arrived at the residence to pick up his children (ages 4, 5 and 9) from their mother, Jayleen Hertweck.

Carl S. Burghart, 58, of 379 South 8th St., Lehighton was cited for violating Borough Ordinance 85-8 that dogs shall not be allowed to defecate on any public or private property. The incident occurred at Union and South 9th streets in Lehighton on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 8:24 p.m.

David D. Hascin, 62, of 341 South 2nd St., Apt. 3, Lehighton, was cited for public drunkenness following a disturbance on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 10:20 p.m. at South 2nd St. and Summit Ave.

State police at the Frackville barracks said they cited two persons after altercations between 9:50-10 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 200 block of east Main Street in Girardville.

Tyrone E. Bruton, 43, was issued a citation for harassment and a 17-year-old boy was charged with criminal mischief. Both are from Girardville.

Police said Bruton became involved in an argument with Melanie A. Victor, 43, also of Girardville, during which time he struck the woman in the face, causing swelling and redness.

State police at the Frackville barracks are investigating a rock-throwing incident in which two vehicles traveling on Interstate 81 in Kline Township were damaged.

The victims are Crete Carrier Corporation, Lincoln, Neb., and David Lee McAnnaney, 56, of Wilburton.

John Geisinger, 66, of Lower Macungie Township, was committed to the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, following his arraignment Sept. 1 on a charge of attempted criminal homicide.

Police said he is being held on $1-million bail pendig a preliminary hearing.

State police at Fogelsville, who made the arrest, said they responded at 12:50 p.m. to the Geisinger residence where John's wife, Louella, reported she had been hit in the back of her head 4-5 times with a baseball bat by her husband.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said copper wiring and brass fittings were stolen in a burglary that happened between 11 a.m. Aug. 25 and 10 a.m. Aug. 31 in Monroe County.

Police said the materials were stolen from a pumping station shed owned by the Pa. American Water Company. It is located off old Rt. 115, near Ross Commons in Ross Township.

Robert Smith of Polk Township was arrested by state police at the lehighton barracks on a charge of disorderly conduct after an incident at 9:07 p.m. Aug. 30 at 10 Valley Road West, Polk Township.

Police said the victim in the case is Doug Cramer, also of Monroe County. No other information on the incident was released by police.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said a garbage truck caught fire at 8;15 a.m. Sept. 1 while it was traveling uphill on Rt. 209 in Branch Township.

Police said the driver of the 2002 Peterbilt trash truck was Daniel Bakerofskie, 49, of Girardville. Neither he nor two other occupants of the vehicle were injured.

Police said the truck's transmission failed while the truck was climbing the hill, resulting in the fire. The Good Intent Fire Company, Llewellyn, responded and extinguished the fire.
