A Tamaqua driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, along Wildcat Road, in Walker Township.

State police at Frackville said Nathan M. Zelinsky, 22, was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo eastbound, a tenth of a mile west of Reynolds Road, and rounding a left hand curve when he lost control.

The Jeep left the road on the north side and struck an embankment then rolled over onto tis roof before coming to rest.

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Larry Bruce Propes, 44, of Tunkhannock, was stopped for a traffic violation about 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, along SR222 at Lincoln Ave., in South Whitehall Township.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, troopers said.

State police at Frackville reported investigating a burglary and theft incidents that occurred at Schuylkill County locations.

The break-in occurred at the residence of Rose Ann Vigna, 76, and Joseph Michael Vigna, 49, at 2 S. Pine St., Kelayres, Kline Township. Entry was gained through a rear kitchen window by sliding open a screen.

Once inside the criminals removed money and other items. Entry occurred sometime between 7:30 and 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 22.

Three drivers are facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges in separate incidents.

State police at Lehighton said Charmain Lavin, 24, of Effort, was stopped about 7:53 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, along Serfoss Road at Long Mountain Road, in Polk Township, Monroe County, for a traffic violation. Lavin was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.

Lehighton Chief of Police Neil Ebbert released the monthly police report of the department for June.

A total of 79 traffic violations were issued during the month. Of them, 53 were for maximum speed limits, five were four driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and four each were for restraint systems and the lack of certificate of inspection.

There were 74 parking violation tickets given.

The police investigated 12 accidents, nine of them hit-and-run.

A speeding stop led to charges against a Philadelphia resident. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred about 4:09 p.m. on Friday, July 20, along Echo Lake Road.

Police said a vehicle was stopped at the above location and time for speeding. During the stop a passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Wayne Barnes, 41, gave conflicting information about his identity and was subsequently placed under arrest for false identification to law enforcement.

A Schuylkill County man has been charged with criminal mischief for an incident that occurred on Monday, July 23, between 3:30-3:45 p.m.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Ryan Christopoher O'Donnell, of Tower City, was charged with throwing a rock and breaking the rear window on a 2004 Kia Sorento while it was parked at 301 E. Colliery Ave., in Tower City. The vehicle is owned by Sheila Snyder, of Tower City, troopers said.

On July 20, Rush Township police file charges against William J. Nahn, 63, Coaldale, for stealing $81.76 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart in Hometown and using instruments of crime. Police reported that Nahn used a razor blade to open merchadise.

On July 20, Rush Township police filed charges against seven individuals from an incident that occurred at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Hometown.

Charged with underage drinking were a 17-year-old female from Walnutport (also charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana), 14-year-old female from Schnecksville, 14-year-old male, 17-year-old female, 13-year-old female, 17-year-old female (also charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana), and 19-year-old Aaron Marlow, all of Slatington.

Tamaqua and Ryan Township police assisted.

Becca A. Thomson, 19, Coaldale, and Candice Tejera, 19, Lansford, are facing underage drinking charges after Rush Township Police were called to the 100 block of Claremont Avenue on the night of July 16 to check on a dog bite victim. Police then discovered the two were consuming alcohol.
