State police at Frackville reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers, both on Saturday, March 19, on Schuylkill County roadways.

Barbara Ann Lehman, 56, of Conyngham, was stopped about 6:50 p.m. along SR54 in West Mahanoy Township for traffic violations. She showed signs of intoxication and was transported to the barracks for a breath test. She will be cited for DUI and summary violations, troopers said.

An arrest has been made in a Carbon County burglary.

State police at Lehighton said Andrew W. Brucks, 26, of Lehighton, has been charged in connection with a break-in that occurred at the residence of Jerimiah Schafer, 24, of 25 Watson Park Blvd., Franklin Township. The burglary was reported on March 6 about 2:15 p.m. At that time Schafer heard someone breaking into his home through a basement door. He confronted the intruder who fled the home and got into a Jeep Wrangler and left toward Watson Road.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said they apprehended Herbert Lee Smith, 29, of Mount Pocono, on a warrant that had been issued against him in Kentucky for failure to pay child support in arrears of over $17,000.

Smith was taken into custody on March 16 at 12:45 a.m. after police stopped a vehicle he was driving for an equipment violation. Upon running the lience check, police learned of the warrant against Smith.

After he was taken into custody, police said they found drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana on him, resulting in additional charges.

State police atthe Frackville barracks are investigating a burglary that happened between 5 p.m. March 16 and 6:30 a.m. March 17 at the Skytop Oil and Coal business in Mahanoy Township.

Police said someone smashed a rear garage door window to gain access to a building, after which time they proceeded to steal various tools and welding cables before leaving the scene in an unknown direction.

Nesquehoning police are investigating the theft of 52 bronze/copper flag holders.

Police Chief Sean Smith said the holders were reported stolen on March 15 from St. John's Russian Cemetery. Also taken were 12 holders from St. Mary's Cemetery. The cemeteries are located off SR209, near Macaluso's Restaurant.

The American flag holders were stolen from the grave sites of World War I and II, Korea War and Vietnam War veterans, Smith said.

Anyone with information concerning these thefts is asked to call police.

Two persons were killed in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County. State police at Fern Ridge said the crash occurred about 4 a.m. on Saturday, March 19.

Troopers identified the deceased as Andrew George Nafus, 29, of Mocanaqua, Luzerne County, and James Henry Martz, 31, of Las Vegas, Nev.

Troopers, who did not identify the driver, said the two were riding in a pickup truck that rolled over while eastbound.

No other details of the crash were released.

A Tamaqua man was incarcerated in the Schuylkill County prison Wednesday, March 16, after being picked up on an outstanding warrant.

Borough police, acting on a tip, went to the 300 block of Race Street at 7 p.m. and found Henry Winger, 29, of 410 E. Elm St. Winger was operating a motorcycle that had a non-valid New Jersey license plate. The motorcycle was impounded.

Adam J. Doyle, 29, of Philadelphia, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of an incident at 6:48 p.m. March 13 in Jim Thorpe.

Police said he was stopped for moving violations while driving a 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 209, where police found him to be under the influence of alcohol.

Michael L. Boyer, 43, of Bloomsburg, was arrested by state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks after a traffic stop Friday at 2:58 a.m. at the intersection of Route 61 and Nicholls Street in Pottsville.

Police said he was observed committing a traffic violation and after police stopped him they learned he was under the influence of alcohol.

A badly decomposed body was found in a wooded area off Interstate 81, near SR61, in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County, on Saturday, March 19. State police at Frackville said the discovery was made about 12:25 p.m. near the Schuylkill Mall.

The severely decomposed body was located within the clover leaf entrance to I-81 southbound. Troopers said it is a male.
