A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 7:08 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, along SR895 (Rock Road), in Washington Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kirk E. Wesner, 21, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2001 Nissan Sentra westbound and descending a slight hill when he came upon some standing water on the road. Wesner traveled through the water without slowing down. His vehicle then spun counter-clockwise causing him to lose control.

A Slatington driver, involved in a two-vehicle crash in Lehigh County, was cited, state police at Fogelsville said. The accident occurred about 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, along SR309 in Lynn Township.

Troopers said Amanda L. Ruhe, 26, of Slatington, was driving a 2011 Kia Sedona westbound on Mountain Road and stopped at the intersection with 309. Ruhe pulled onto 309 and into the path of a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Donna M. Dicasimirro, 56, of Mahanoy City. The right front corner of the Kia struck the left front corner of the Chevrolet.

Rush Township Police have been busy with retail theft cases involving the Hometown Commons Walmart.

On Dec. 5, Ryan A Petrulsky, 23, and Samantha M. Gonzalez, 23, both of Freeland, were arrested after they allegedly stole merchandise valued at $209.85 from the retailer. The incident reportedly took place at 3:05 p.m.

Alexander J. Modawar Sr., 31, of Tamaqua, was cited on Dec. 7, when he allegedly took merchandise valued at $31.84. That incident was reported at 1:28 a.m.

If you're missing a set of golf clubs, they might be at the Summit Hill Police Station.

Chief of Police Joseph Fittos said someone dropped off a set of clubs about two or three months ago to the police department.

He said nobody has claimed them. Fittos said if you think they might be your clubs, go to the police station and give a description of them.

In other police news, on Dec. 5, the police received a report of a burglary in the White Bear section of Summit Hill. Upon investigating, it was determined a house, occupied part-time, was broken into.

A Monroe County driver is facing charges following an incident that occurred early Tuesday morning, Dec. 6.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 2:30 a.m. officers attempted to stop a Nissan Maxima along SR940 in Blakeslee. Police said the driver entered the parking lot of the WaWa and then fled. Officers followed the Maxima into Greenwood Acres where the driver turned onto Birchwood Drive.

Lehighton Police Sgt. Joseph Lawrence reported that an attempted child abduction took place at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, near the playground area of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School.

A 7-year-old was playing in the fenced in area when the child saw a Rice Krispie Treat that was not in the wrapper. As the child walked toward the treat a man got out of a vehicle and invited the child to come and get it. The child instead said that it would get its grandmother and man got back in the vehicle and left the area.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers, both occurring on Tuesday, Dec. 6, along Schuylkill County roadways.

The first crash occurred about 12:25 p.m. along SR61, near Pheasant Run Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Joseph P. Graydus, 28, of Pottsville, was operating a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck southbound when the vehicle lost traction and began to spin counter-clockwise. Graydus applied the brakes but lost contol.

A Cumberland County man was arrested following a confrontation with a hunter on property he owns in Schuylkill County that included a gun-pointing incident and the shooting of a tire on a vehicle. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 6 a.m. on Nov. 28 along a dirt eastment near 49 Kushwa Road in Hubley Township.

Troopers said Frank J. Krammes, 44, of Sacramento, Schuylkill County, drove to the area and was attempting to hunt on the property stated above. He was confronted by Andrew D. Smeltz, 34, of Summerdale, who told Krammes he was trespassing.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft incident in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said the incident occurred at the residence of Carol Ann Bennett, 42, of 1923 E. Grand Avenue (SR209), in Tower City, Porter Township. Troopers said about 7:15 a.m. the suspect arrived at the residence and told the victim their car had broken down and asked to use her phone.
