State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Erika L. Moyer, 44, of Summit Hill, was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla northbound, just south of SR903, and attempting to negotiate a left curve and lost control. Moyer over-compensated for the curve with the car spinning counter-clockwise. The car went onto the berm and struck a utility pole.

A Carbon County woman was cited for retail theft for an incident in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Jamie Lee Taschler, 21, of Lehighton, was arrested about 11:56 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Walmart store, located at 1091 Millcreek Road, in Lower Macungie Township.

Troopers said Taschler allegedly removed miscellaneous items from the store with a total value of $57.48, without paying for them.

A Schuylkill County couple avoided injuries after their vehicle struck a large boulder Friday evening in North Manheim Township.

Schuylkill Haven State Police said the crash occurred around 7:33 p.m., when a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu operated by Gerald Schoenauer, 65, of Pottsville, was traveling east on Cressona Road, at which time he struck a large boulder which had fallen off the hillside and onto the road.

At that point, the undercarriage of the vehicle struck the boulder, and after impact, continued traveling east with the boulder still under the vehicle.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident on Jan. 10 about 9:50 p.m. along Canal St., in Franklin Township.

State police at Lehighton said Gary L. Reed, 46, of Lehighton, was stopped for an equipment violation on his 1995 Dodge Ram pickup truck. As a result of the stop, Reed was subsequently arrested for DUI, troopers said.

Esther Ermlick, 23, of Palmerton, has been charged by Mahoning Township police with two counts of DUI, one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of general lighting requirements.

The charges stem from a traffic stop last June 14 at 9:47 p.m. near Beaver Run and Mauch Chunk Street for a traffic offense.

Police said Ermlick was allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and marijuana seeds. Results of a blood test showed the presence of marijuana.

A Carbon County business has been cited for false alarms.

State police at Lehighton said Country Junction, located along Interchange Road (SR209), in Towamensing Township, was cited. Troopers said they responded to eight false alarms at the business during a 12-month period.

The Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board conducted compliance checks of licensed establishments in Carbon County on Friday, Jan. 11, between 4 p.m. and midnight.

Age compliance checks consist of using supervised underage buyers in an attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages.

On the recent check in Carbon, six licensed establishments were checked. Two of them were found to be noncompliant, meaning they served the underage buyer alcoholic beverages.

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, along Wade Road, in New Castle Township.

State police at Frackville said Allen Harig, 34, of Saint Clair, was driving a 2006 Mercedes C280 eastbound and attempted to turn onto Birch St.

He was traveling too fast for conditions to make the turn, troopers said, and his vehicle left the road and struck the top of a concrete retaining wall.

State police at Fogelsville reported invesetigating a one-vehicle crash about 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at the intersection of Weidasville and Highland roads, in Lowhill Township.

Troopers said Christa L. Eck, 38, of New Tripoli, was driving a 2002 Toyota Echo northbound on Weidasville Road. At the intersection with Highland Road she attempted to turn right onto Highland but continued straight, went off the road and struck a tree with the front end.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Lehighton said Brian Kenny, 33, of Lehighton, was stopped about 10:35 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Walnut and South sts., in Jim Thorpe, for several traffic violations. He was found to be under the influence and placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
