Shayne Nelson Earle, 29, of 120 Mahanoy Street, Tamaqua, was charged by Coaldale police Officer Joseph Krebs with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license, registration, driving a vehicle with bald tires, and having an open bottle of alcohol in the car.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Krebs was monitoring traffic on Route 209 at 1:20 a.m. Jan. 22 in the area of the No. 11 Hill when he noticed a silver Mitsubishi Mirage with an expired registration sticker traveling east. Krebs confirmed the sticker was expired, then followed and stopped the car.

A Tamaqua woman will be cited following an incident at the Family Dollar Store in the borough.

Police were dispatched to the Railroad Street store at 10:39 a.m. on Feb. 9 for a retail theft. The suspect had left the scene but was identified by store personnel as Amber Murphy, 21, of 322 W. Broad St. Murphy was observed taking items from the store shelves, then placing them in her purse. The items were valued at $7.25.

She was cited for retail theft.

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several crashes investigated by troopers on area roadways.

A two vehicle crash occurred about 8:37 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the intersection of SR903 and Towamensing Trail, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Dianna M. Fritz, 51, of Pocono Lake, operating a 2004 Dodge Neon, and was merging onto 903 when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 1998 Dodge Durango driven by Stella M. Surowitz, 53, of Albrightsville.

A Carbon County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident in Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Eric Gaudreau, 26, of Jim Thorpe, was stopped about 12:08 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, along Church Lane, at Oak Drive, in Lower Macungie Township, for traffic violations. Gaudreau showed various signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.

Charges will be filed.

A driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 4:10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, along Carpet Road, west of Lyon Valley Road, in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Bechara Z. Azar, 47, of New Tripoli, was operating a 2003 Honda Civic westbound when the vehicle left the road and impacted with a utility pole on the front passenger side.

Azar sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.

He was cited for careless driving, troopers added.

A search for a missing 14-year-old boy led to a fugitive arrest in Monroe County Thursday afternoon.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police were called to assist the Monroe County Children and Youth office at 3:49 p.m. with the search for the missing boy.

The search led to the residence of the child's half sister, Heather Byron, 28, of Pocono Summit.

While on scene, police conducted an NCIC check on Byron's identity, and discovered that she was wanted by the State of New Jersey for a probation violation on an original charge of Distribution of CDS (Heroin).

Both drivers involved in a crash in Schuylkill County have been cited. The crash is one of three reported by state police at Frackville, all occurring on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Troopers said a two vehicle crash occurred about 8:10 a.m. along SR54 in the area of Lakeside Ballroom, in Ryan Township. Troopers said Blair Hetherington, 17, of Ringtown, was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry westbound and lost control on the snow-covered road while negotiating a right curve. His vehicle struck the rear of a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Elsie Donella, 26, of Mahanoy City.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a 300 gallon plastic tank from a Schuylkill County business. Troopers also reported on a criminal mischief incident.

The tank was removed from the the property of Omnova Solutions, located at 95 Hickory Drive, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said between 1:05 and 1:20 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, a Dodge pickup truck , blue in color, arrived on scene and removed the empty tank, which is white in color with a black cap on top. The tank was located on the west side of the barn.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, along Toll Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Richard H. Jones, 69, of Effort, was driving a 2004 BMW 330XI northbound when a silver van passed him on the left.

The van made contact with the driver's side fender of the BMW as it traveled back into the northbound lane.

The driver of the van then left the scene.

Jones was not injured. The type of van or registration was not obtained by the victim, troopers said.

A Monroe County resident was cited for retail theft following an incident that occurred at Kingsley's Shop Rite, located at 760 SR209, in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said John Lee Holland, 49, of East Stroudsburg, was accused of taking $39.22 worth of merchandise from the store without paying for it.

The incident occurerd about 3:55 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, troopers said.
