A snow/ice ball throwing incident in Tamaqua on Feb. 7 resulted in three teens being cited by police.

At 5:50 p.m., Wendy Seigenfuse of 145 Grouse Ridge, Tamaqua, called police to report that she was driving on Hunter Street, near the intersection with Orwigsburg Street, when a young male threw an ice/snow ball, striking her vehicle.

She stopped, got out of the vehicle and found three teens, two 13 year old and one 14 year old, hiding under a deck. She called police and the trio ran toward the railroad tracks.

A Tamaqua man was picked up on an outstanding warrant on Feb. 12.

Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig received a tip at 9:32 p.m. that day, informing him that Douglas Schartel, 31, of 114 Market St., Tamaqua, was sitting in the Happy Endings Bar on Railroad Street. Schartel was wanted by state parole officers.

Harig and Sgt. Richard Weaver went to the establishment and arrested Schartel without incident.

State parole officers took custody of Schartel at approximately 11 p.m.

No one was injured in a two vehicle crash that occurred about 5:53 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, along Highridge Park Road at Keystone Blvd., in Cass Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Anthony Zanis, 25, of Seltzer, driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado truck, was westbound and attempting to turn onto Keystone Blvd., when his vehicle struck the drivers' side of a 1996 Buick Regal driven by Kenneth Kimmer Sr., 25, of Ashland, who was eastbound.

Upon impact the Regal spun into the median while the Silverado continued onto Keystone and came to rest.

A Shenandoah teen visiting with local friends last weekend ended up in police custody after he reportedly accepted a dare to shop lift.

Officers were called to the M and S Hardware Store, 10 W. Broad St., at 1:57 p.m. for a retail theft. Store personnel had detained a 15 year old male who tried to steal pocket knives and two types of lighters. The teen said he did it on a dare, but refused to name the person(s) who issued the dare.

He was cited for retail theft.

A 16 year old Tamaqua male faces charges related to an arson fire on Feb. 10 at 108 Schuylkill Ave., Tamaqua.

At approximately 5 p.m. that day, the teen set afire a mattress that was leaning against the residence. The act was witnessed by resident Howard Boyer, 40, who confronted the would be arsonist. The teen took off running and Boyer gave chase.

When Boyer slipped and fell on the ice, the chase was continued by Anthony Houser, 22, of Tamaqua. Houser was able to nab the teen in the area of the Five Points, then called police.

McAdoo police have cited Jonathan Harris, 26, of 133 S. Hancock St., McAdoo, following a vehicle stop on Feb. 17.

Officers were monitoring traffic on South Kennedy Drive at 1:10 a.m. when they observed a blue Dodge Stratus entering the Fegley mini mart lot. When the occupants observed the squad car, the Dodge was turned around, exiting the lot. The passenger kept looking back and the officers observed a non-functioning registration light.

Two persons were cited following an incident in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 1728 Sweet Arrow Lake Road, Pine Grove, in Washington Township.

Troopers said at that location and time Linda Lee Yeager, 53, and Roy Melvin Yeager, 55, both of that address, got into an argument. During the argument Roy Yeager became angry and began threatening and pushing Linda Yeager.

A Nescopeck man has been charged by McAdoo police following an incident on Feb. 17.

Patrolman Steven Homanko was on patrol at 1:30 a.m. when he observed a vehicle traveling at an apparent high rate of speed on South Kennedy Drive. The driver slammed on the brakes at the intersection with Grant Street, making a right turn on to East Grant. Homanko followed and observed the vehicle swerve from side to side and fail to stop at a stop sign. He initiated a traffic stop.

A Lansford woman and two female juveniles from Nesquehoning have been charged in connection with a New Year's Day assault in Tamaqua.

On that day, Officer Joseph Krebs was dispatched to 150 Owl Creek Road at 3:12 p.m. for a disturbance/fight in progress. On scene, he spoke with Shellie Stahler, who said she and her 16-year-old daughter had been assaulted by a group of teenage girls traveling in a black Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep was last seen traveling Owl Creek Road toward Summit Hill.

A Schuylkill County man was cited for harassment following an incident that occurred about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 2 Bridge St., in Kline Township.

State police at Frackville said Jamie Yuhas, 52, of McAdoo, and a 18-year-old female, also from McAdoo, were involved in an argument at the above location. The argument turned physical when Yuhas allegedly grabbed the female by the hair and pushed her to the floor.
