State police at Frackville are investigating a retail theft incident that occurred at a store in the Schuylkill Mall, New Castle Township.

About 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, a female attempted to leave the Sears store with $202.96 worth of clothing without paying for it. She was confronted by loss prevention personnel upon leaving the store.

The woman pushed the store employee and fled on foot.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570)-874-5300.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating an attempted break-in at a Monroe County home.

Troopers said the incident occurred at a residence along Alpha Drive, in Alpha Acres, in Jackson Township. Two white males attempted to enter the residence about 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, but were scared off by the homeowner's dog. The two were attempting to remove an air conditioner when the homeowner, only identified as a 45-year-old female, confronted them.

The two fled in a black in color Toyota.

A driving under the influence (DUI) charge is pending against a Monroe County man following a one-vehicle accident.

Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to a report of a crash about 1:41 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, along Hemlock Drive in Coolbaugh Township. Upon arrival officers found the driver attempting to pull his vehicle out of a ditch.

The driver was identified as Matthew Dunham, 21, of Pocono Pines. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Criminal charges were filed against Robert Holliday, 27, Carbon County Prison, for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal conspiracy, and endangering welfare of children. The incident occurred on July 15 at 5:35 p.m. in the 700 block of Princeton Avenue.

Criminal charges were filed against George Gannon, 24, of 18 Matterhorn Drive, Effort, for possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred on July 31 at 12:45 p.m. on SR248 east.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred about 9:55 p.m. along SR61 at the intersection of SR443 "jughandle" in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Bryce N. Seip, 48, of New Ringgold, was traveling through the jughandle from 61 to go east on 443 while Ned F. Drey, 52, of Cressona, was southbound on 61.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating two theft from vehicle incidents that occurred in Schuylkill County.

Nicole Marie Knorr, of Pottsville St., Cressona, repored her unlocked Honda Accord was entered sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, and shortly after midnight on Tuesday, and removed was 25 CDs valued at over $300. The vehicle was parked near her residence.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of copper wiring from a Schuylkill County residence.

Troopers said unknown criminals cut the copper wiring to the house meter box of the residence of Michael Sitkus, located along Norwegian Woods Drive, Norwegian Township. The theft occurred sometime between Monday, Aug. 15, at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday at 5 a.m. The property is owned by Michael Sitkus, of Minersville, troopers said.

Several drug-related arrests were reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police.

Police said on Aug. 13 about 3:16 a.m. officers stopped to check a vehicle parked on the side of SR940 just before Heath Lane. While speaking with the driver, identified as Jose Velasquez, 35, of Bronx, N.Y., officers observed a bag of suspected marijuana behind the passenger seat.

A Mahanoy City man will be cited following a reported retail theft at the Tamaqua Turkey Hill Minit Mart on Friday morning.

According to police a group of men entered the store at approximatley 1:30 a.m.

While the store clerk's back was turned, one of the men, identified as John Vidzicki, 27, of 508 E. Market St., allegedly removed two packs of Newport cigarettes from the shelf then left without paying for them.

The theft was witnessed by another store patron.

When contacted by police Vidzicki admitted to the theft.

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating two theft incidents that occurred in Schuylkill County.

Eric Geisinger, 31, of 150 Alcoa St., Cressona, reported his vehicle was forcibly entered and removed qas a hand-held games system and a Belkin wireless transmitter.

The incident occurred sometime between 11 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, and 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday while the vehicle was parked near his home.

Troopers said someone removed the drainage grate from the borough park, located at Fifth and Spruce sts.

The grate was located next to the lower pavilion.
