A Tamaqua woman has been charged in connection with a one vehicle accident in the borough on March 23.

Jane Dolores Hanzarik, 51, of 201 E. Broad St., was driving north in a red Oldsmobile coupe on Pine Street at 1 a.m. when her vehicle struck a Chevrolet Cobalt, owned by Florence Inama, of 222 E. Broad St. The Chevrolet had been parked near the Tamaqua Rescue Squad building.

A Philadelphia driver escaped injury in a one vehicle crash in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Oneil A. Malcolm-Fuller, 21, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on SR61 in West Brunswick Township, about 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, when he lost control. The car traveled across the right northbound lane and struck an embankment. After impact the rear of the car pivoted about 45-degrees clockwise before coming to final rest facing east straddling the white fog line on the right side.

Two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police.

On Friday, April 15, about 11:50 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR423 in Coolbaugh Township for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Todd Simms, 52, of Tobyhanna. Simms was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests.

He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.

Several citations were issued by police in Lehighton borough.

Ÿ Jennifer Young, 35, of Maple Drive, Jim Thorpe, was cited for harassment after a physical altercation which occurred at J.D. Citro's, 328 S. Second St., Lehighton, on Saturday, March 26. The incident occurred just after midnight, police said.

A traffic stop in Schuylkill County led to a driving under the influence (DUI) charge against the driver.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Roy T. Snowell, 56, of Pottsville, was stopped about 2:16 a.m. on Monday, April 18, along SR61 at the Stoner Tile jughandle in North Manheim Township, for an invalid registration on his 1998 Ford Taurus. As a result of the stop Snowell was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, troopers said.

A criminal mischief incident that happened between 7 p.m. April 10 and 2 p.m. April 11 in the 1500 block of Chestnut Road, East Brunswick Township, is being investigated by state police at the Frackville barracks.

The victim is Zach Kulp, 31, of New Ringgold.

He told police someone threw a large rock through the rear window of his 2005 Jeep Laredo while it was parked at his property.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating the theft of a vehicle registration plate.

Troopers said a dealer's plate was removed from a vehicle at J.T. Motors Auto Sales, located at 2 Bear Medicine Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. The plate was removed sometime between 6 and 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said several DeWalt hand tools were found off Candle Drive, in the Candlewick Estates, in Long Pond, and the owner is being sought.

The tools were found about 8:30 p.m. on April 14. Police said the initials "CDS" are on the tools.

A vehicle stop in Monroe County has led to the Luzerne County driver facing a drug count.

State police at Fern Ridge said Malikh Christian Jamison, 21, of Hazleton, was stopped about 9:15 a.m. on April 13 along Interstate 80 westbound in Tunkhannock Township, for a motor vehicle code violation.

Druing the stop it was learned that Jamison had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued from Virginia. He was placed in custody and during a patdown search of his person five small bags of marijuana were found in his jacket pocket.

Coaldale police arrested a borough man for allegedly beating up his father.

Leonard M. Ruggiero Jr., 19, of 101 First St., was charged with simple assault and harassment after an incident Monday.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua by Officer Charles Blesse, here's what happened:

At 2:49 a.m. April 10, Officer Gabriel Szozda received a telephone assignment to contact Leonard Ruggiero. He called Ruggiero, who told the officer he had been in a physical altercation with his son, Leonard Ruggiero Jr.
