State police at the Fogelsville barracks said a Fogelsville woman escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash Jan. 25 at 12:34 a.m. on Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township.

Police said Samantha R. Blake, 19, was driving a 2003 Audi eastbound when she fell asleep. The vehicle went onto the south shoulder of the road and struck a guard rail with its front passenger-side bumper. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said Blake will be cited for roadways laned for traffic and careless driving.

State police at the Frackville barracks said a Mahanoy City woman escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash Jan. 21 at 7 a.m. on State Rt. 54 in Mahanoy Township.

Police said Odilia Tovar-Zamudio, 33, was driving a 1998 Lincoln Navigator eastbound between Shenandoah and Mahanoy City when she lost control of it while traveling downhill near Patriot Hill. Police said the vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch in which there were several rocks. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damages.

Lehighton police reported on the following arrests made by officers.

Helen Stuart, 48, of 253 Center St., Lehighton, has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and restrictions on alcohol. On Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at about 5:07 p.m., police were dispatched to a call of a female driver passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of E. Penn St. and Blakeslee Blvd. That person was Stuart, police said. A blood test revealed a .30BAC.

Two persons are facing drug counts following an incident in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, officers on patrol at the Gouldsboro Travel Plaza, located at the intersection of routes 435 and 507, in Coolbaugh Township, observed a suspicious vehicle with two occupants parked in the lot. The officers made contact with the two, who were identified as Kyle Rosen, 19, of Spring Brook Township, and Kyle Dileo, 19, of Scranton, both of Lackawanna County.

Black ice was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred along Darkwater Road, a mile west of SR61, in New Castle Township, about 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Troopers said Sarah Newton, 32, of Minersville, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu westbound when she encountered the icy conditions which caused her to lose control.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on several crashes investigated on Schuylkill County roadways this week.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 7:47 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, along SR501 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Larry Paul Krammes, 57, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1993 Dodge Intrepid northbound and attempting to negotiate a left hand curve when he hit ice, coming out of the curve causing him to lose control.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on the following arrests made by officers.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, about 4:24 a.m. officers on patrol of the Pocono Farms Community observed foot prints in the snow leading away from an abandoned residence. Officers followed the foot prints to the residence at 7215 Mohansic Lane. Upon arrival officers observed an individual stumbling in the driveway. A further investigation identified the person as Daniel Janki, 32, of Tobyhanna. Janki was intoxicated and was at the residence of his wife, Dipa Janki, 36.

Two Schuylkill County businesses were burglarized.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at the Blue Mountain Family Chiropractic and Downtime Salon and Spa, located at 1120 Centre Turnpike (SR61), in West Brunswick Township.

Entry was made sometime between 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, and 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The front doors were pried open to gain entry.

Removed from the chiropractic business was $40 and taken from the salon and spa was $200.

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a head-on crash about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, along Towamensing Trail in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Shellyann Sinclair, 37, of Albrightsville, was operating a 2007 Jeep Compass southbound, and Matthew A. Wollett, 26, also of Albrightsville, was driving a 1998 Mazda B250 northbound.

As the two vehicles rounded a curve they collided head-on, troopers said.

Sinclair was injured and taken to the Geisinger Medical Center-Wyoming, Plains Township, Luzerne County, for treatment.

A driver involved in a crash about 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, in Schuylkill County, sustained injuries.

State police at Frackville said Hye Hillibush, 47, no address given, was driving a 2007 Jeep Liberty southbound on SR61 in New Castle Township, in an area referred to as "dead man's curve," when he lost control.

The Liberty went onto the berm and struck an embankment with the right side, then rolled over coming to rest on the embankment.
