Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating a break-in at a Monroe County business.

The incident was discovered at 10:28 p.m. March 12 when police were summoned to investigate a burglar alarm going off at Smokin Vittles, 423 Sterling Road.

Police said the owner and police discovered actor(s) had entered the business.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (570) 895-2450.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police on March 15 arrested Sean Patrick Griffin, 18, of East Stroudsburg, after he was initially stopped for speeding on Route 611 in Mount Pocono.

Police said they were conducting traffic enforcement measures when they timed him at 63.9 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone. After stopping the car, police said they found Griffin to be under the influence of alcohol. Police said he provided officers with a false name because he believed he had several warrants issued in his name.

Two drivers are facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges following separate incidents in Kidder Township.

Township police said on March 3 about 1:35 a.m. Stephanie Dakis, 27, of Albrightsville, was involved in a crash along SR903. She was injured and flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where she was treated and released. A blood test was administered and the result was .17BAC, police said.

A Staten Island, N.Y., man who police had to "taser" to get him under control has been arrested for driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said Richard Maresca, 52, became belligerent towards officers after they came upon an accident at 5:30 a.m. March 9 on Long Pond Road, near Kuhenbeaker Road, in Tunkhannock Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks are investigating a criminal mischief incident that happened on March 5 in Lower Macungie Township.

The victim is a township resident who lives at 3400 Brookside Road.

Police said someone damaged a sign owned by the victim at the intersection of Mountain, Reservoir and Hensingersville roads.

Kidder Township police reported on the following arrests made by officers.

On March 5 police filed charges with the county juvenile probation office against a 17-year-old male from Jim Thorpe for stealing a vehicle on Jan. 9, 2012. The vehicle, a 1995 Toyota Corolla, was stolen from a driveway on South Lake Drive, Lake Harmony. The vehicle was later located on State Game Lands near Behrens Road, by Det. Cpl. Neil Yurchak, the same day. The vehicle was then processed and evidence found was sent to a crime lab.

The theft of a Caterpillar Skid Steer from a construction site in Monroe County is being investigated by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks.

Police said the theft happened between 6 p.m. March 14 and 9 a.m. March 15 at a construction site off the Effort-Neola Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said U.S. Pipe Line is conducting work on a gas line in the area, and the equipment was removed from that site. It is equipped with tracks, not wheels, and is yellow in color with a black bucket.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police were summoned at 5:31 a.m. March 14 to investigate a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Sullivan Trail and the Interstate 380 overpass in Monroe County.

Police said Anne K. Hartinger, 28, of Pocono Pines, was driving a vehicle eastbound on Sullivan Trail when she lost control of it after it slid on the icy road surface.

The vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a bridge abutment.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police investigated a one-vehicle accident at 1:16 a.m. March 14 on Long Pond Road, near Emerald Lake Drive, in Pocono Summit.

Police said Angela Sanabria, 41, of Mount Pocono, was driving a vehicle eastbound on Long Pond Road when he failed to negotiate a left turn and the vehicle ran off the side of the roadway.

Sanabria told police a deer in the roadway caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Danielle Gertrude Thomas of Allentown is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol by state police at the Fogelsville barracks.

Police said she was stopped on March 16 after the South Whitehall Police Department was investigating an accident at the intersection of routes 222 and 29 in the township. Police said Thomas was operating a vehicle northbound at the time of the crash and was stopped on the east shoulder.

Police said she showed signs of intoxication and was transported to the Lehigh County Booking Center for a blood test.
