Letters to the Editor

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Dear Editor:

I feel like I am living in a zombie movie. There have been an incredible number of recent threats to our lives and liberty yet people are still wondering around unaffected by it all acting as if none of it matters. It leaves me with a very disconcerting feeling.

Dear Editor:

The Garden of Giving would like to express heartfelt thanks to volunteers throughout the community for the support provided to us this year. With your help we were able to provide over 7,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to the following food banks: Supplemental Food Resource Center (Effort); Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network (Saylorsburg), Pocono Mountain Hunger Ministry (Mount Pocono) and Follow Me Foundation's Food for Friends (East Stroudsburg). We also served the Soup Kitchens of St. Lukes Church (Stroudsburg) and Our Lady Queen of Peace (Brodheadsville)

Dear Editor:

You trespassed on private property, crawled into my tree stand and stole my camo bucket with the swivel seat.

We have a good idea who you are and I will welcome any other information on this incident.

Do the ethical hunters of Pennsylvania a favor next year and don't buy a hunting license. We do not need outlaws like you in our ranks. The cost of the stolen item is not the problem, it is the principle, real hunters do not steal from brother hunters.

Charles E Schimpf,

New England Valley

Dear Editor:

The Mansion House Hill was a rough ride for many years. However this past summer it was redone and is now a pleasure to drive. I was happy to see smile installing the new drains that they also put a macadam curb on the mountain side of the road. Great idea!

Dear Editor:

It is easy to joke now with my rendition of the words to the tune, Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer!

There was Jennifer and Stacy and Nancy and Melissa, Margie and Mary Ann and Josh, and Lisa, but do you recall, the most famous helpers of all...the entire staff of the ICU, Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital.

I want to also thank Dr. Bosi, Dr. Sahoo, Micah Gursky, and Kim Sargent this last week. In addition to the members of St. Luke's, Tracey Caroll offered to drive me to the hospital when I got the 'call' with the news.

Dear Editor:

To James Kraky and School Board:

I would like to thank you for the invite to the public meeting presenting some of the district building plans. Please use this as a guideline for some of the more difficult questions that will need to be answered directly as they relate to the upcoming building plans.

Dear Editor:

You fought over seas and land

You fought for freedoms stand

Now you have put down the gun

To hold the hand of our Lord our father and son

As the drums slowly beat

Your final march is no retreat

Rest now you have won there's no defeat

So as they lay you beneath the ground

And as my tears come flowing down

I shall always remember what you gave

Our love one a soldier brave

As the drums slowly beat

Your final march is no retreat

So as we part my love

I know that somewhere up above

Dear Editor:

The Internal Revenue Service recently launched an unprecedented effort to provide some oversight over the tax preparation industry, including Pennsylvania's 37,175 preparers.

Our intent is not to impose onerous mandates. Our intent is to stop the unqualified and unscrupulous from causing financial and emotional pain on the nation's taxpayers.

Dear Editor:

One month after the midterm elections, the republicans have made clear what their party's goal has been all along- help the rich.
