Letters to the Editor

Saturday, March 3, 2012

Dear Editor:

Thanks for the opportunity to respond to Carolyn Padora's letter and present the facts on this matter.

Shortly after the filing deadline, it was brought to my attention that 20 of the 21 Padora petitions were notarized on the same date by the same notary. I was also informed that at least one of the circulators did not appear before the notary as required by law.

Dear Editor:

No, I am not masochistic but I'm beginning think that perhaps the consumer is plus our government officials may have more than a few psychological problems!

How can they say there is no inflation? How can they drop out of their formula the price of fuel? How do they select what items are to be included or excluded from their convoluted equation?

Dear Editor:

Mark Linkhorst's recent letter to the editor made a number of outrageous claims attacking me with little understanding of the state's new Marcellus Shale impact fee law. He even attacked my record as an Eagle Scout from way back in 1974. Go figure!

Here are the facts:

Dear Editor:

More diminishing tax dollars are disrespectfully spent by legislators who serve political party and special interest entities instead of spending taxes on the needs of the citizens who elect them to efficiently conduct the affairs of the government; of, by and for "the people".

Dear Editor:

Thursday February 9th, 2011 Amy Miller accurately explained some details of my case but missed the point when she updated Times News readers on the filing of my 2nd brief in Commonwealth Court as the plaintiff against the Carbon County Commissioners.

First, I want to make some clarifications in the case and article. This is not about a Right to Know law which is statuatory law made by legislators but about a fundamental right guaranteed in the PA and US Constitutions.

Dear Editor:

On Saturday, February 18th, my parents and I attended the annual Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation gathering. This special night at the Tamaqua Railroad Station was a celebration of the innovative programs that the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation makes possible within the Tamaqua Area School District. I want to recognize the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation for the outstanding educational initiatives that they have funded in the Tamaqua Area School District over the past two years.

Dear Editor:

The Feb. 18 Letter to the Editor provided by Mark Linkhorst became the final push toward my writing this long overdue response to all the "Right-Wing, Conservative "bashing" of President Obama. Mr. Linkhorst's letter's contents are just a microcosm of what has been happening to our local area, our Commonwealth and our Nation these last couple of years.

Dear Editor:

I want to publicly thank St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital for their partnership with the Panther Valley Public Library. Through our joint efforts, we are going to provide the Panther Valley communities with some outstanding and informative programs and events.

Dear Editor:

After reading the reports on the Packerton Yards project, it seems the project would benefit from appointing a point person to coordinate the various phases of the project.

They should be well versed in the legalities required, and be given a deadline, and be monitored for progress.

Dear Editor:

This is to congratulate the person who wrote a letter to the editor that was in Saturday, Feb. 18, edition, about the street lights here in town (Tamaqua). Also about the walk lights. They were right. They are all in bad condition and shape, one way or another.
