Justin Huegel, son of Stan and Christine Huegel of Tamaqua, has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall semester at the Hazleton Campus of Penn State University. A 2010 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, the freshman student is majoring in Secondary Education and is in the honors program. He earned a 3.81 grade point average and has qualified for an academic scholarship created through the Marlene Guers Memorial Fund, presented to honor students for their academic excellence and creativity.

Plocinik

Anthony Plocinik II, Lehighton, has been named to the dean's list at Penn State University, Hazleton campus. A sophomore, his GPA for the fall semester was 3.94. He is majoring in marketing communications.

Anthony is a 2009 graduate of Palmerton Area High School and the son of Ann Therese and Tony Plocinik. He is the grandson of Peter A. Kupec and the late Bernadine Kupec or Lansford, and Ron and Bernie Plocinik of Coaldale.

Army National Guard Sgt. Scott M. Everitt has been mobilized and activated at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operation New Dawn or Operation Enduring Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 131st Transportation Company, Williamstown.

The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.

Sverchek

Stephen and Rachel Sverchek of Lehighton were recently notified by their respective schools that they have attained the dean's list for the fall 2010 semester.

Stephen attends Duquesne University and is a student in the A.J. Palumbo School of Business with a major in marketing and a minor in entrepreneurship. He received a 3.81 grade point average for the fall semester.

Jennifer Yurick, daughter of Theresa Yurick of Summit Hill and the late Paul Yurick Jr., has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Kutztown University.

A 2007 graduate of Panther Valley High School, she is majoring in elementary education with a concentration in math.

Jennifer is the granddaughter of Thomas and Joan Shober of Nesquehoning and Paul and Frances Yurick of Summit Hill.

A sophomore student, she is majoring in Occupational Therapy. A 2009 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, she is the granddaughter of Betty Davies and Gwen Evans, both of Tamaqua.

Reis

Krystallynn Reis, daughter of Pat and John Reis of Towamensing Township, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at East Stroudsburg University, receiving a 4.0.

She is a 2006 graduate of Palmerton Area High School, and a 2008 graduate of LCCC, where she received an associate degree in business administration. She is in her senior year at ESU, working toward a bachelor of science degree in early childhood development.

Krystallynn is the granddaughter of Patricia and Richard Whiting of Philadelphia, and Maria and Joao Reis of Rotonda West, Florida.
