Laura Walser of Tamaqua, was named to Susquehanna University's Dean's list for the fall 2010 semester.

The dean's list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for the semester. To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Walser, a freshman majoring in spanish and secondary education, is a 2010 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Walser.

Guy Bowe of Tamaqua was named to Susquehanna University's Dean's list for the fall 2010 semester.

The dean's list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for the semester. To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Bowe, a senior majoring in economics and accounting, is a 2007 graduate of Tamaqua Senior High School and the son of Jeffrey and Rea Bowe.

Kuzicki

Robert Kuzicki, a fourth grade student at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Lehighton, won the school level competition of the National Geographic Bee held Jan. 11 and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship. The school level Bee, at which 10 student finalists answered oral questions, was the first round in the 23rd Annual National Geographic Bee. Kuzicki advances to the next level of competition, a written exam to determine state competitors.

Hunadi

Andrew Hunadi has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2010 semester at King's College in Wilkes-Barre. He is enrolled in the physician assistant program. He is a 2007 graduate of Palmerton Area High School. He is employed as an EMT with the Palmerton Community Ambulance. He is also an active volunteer with the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company.

He is the son of Gregory and Carol Hunadi of Bowmanstown and the grandson of Walter and Rosaline Spack of Bowmanstown and of the late Andrew and Eleanore Hunadi of Nesquehoning.

Immaculata University students Ariel Makowski of Kunkletown and Meagan Fritzgerald of Saylorsburg attained the dean's list for the 2010 fall semester. Immaculata University is a Catholic, coeducational institution, located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.

Kokinda

Air Force Airman Jacob M. Kokinda graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Elizabeth Kohr of Golf Road, Lebanon and Paul Kokinda of Abbott St., Lansford.

Serfass

Chad Serfass, son of Todd and Kathy Serfass of Lehighton received his Masters in Education degree from DeSales University on January 22. He graduated from DeSales University in 2007 with his BA in Elementary Education. Upon graduation he was immediately employed in the department of Student Affairs and was recently promoted to the Assistant Director for the DeSales Experience in Character and Leadership. The DeSales Experience is a program designed to integrate character and leadership development of the students over their four years at the university.

Michel Lindenmuth of Nesquehoning has been named to the dean's list at Mount Saint Mary's University, Emmitsburg, Md. for the fall 2010 semester.

Lindenmuth is a junior majoring in political science and minoring in history and sports management.

He is in the honors program at Mount Saint Mary's and a member of the Student Government Association Advisory Board.

Lindenmuth was one of several students who were recently selected to represent Mount Saint Mary's at the European Union Conference for college students in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

Ruzicka

The Concourse Club of Palmerton's January Guiding Star is Jordan Cara Ruzicka, daughter of Debra and Robert Ruzicka of Palmerton. Her school activities include Mock Trial, FBLA, National Honor Society, Art Club and the Avenger newspaper. She is involved in Girl Scouts and is a very talented artist. Jordan is the oldest of five girls and works part time. Her interests are math, drawing, painting and architecture. Her future plans include attend Boston Architectural College.
