A free Community Spaghetti Dinner will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Cornerstone Community Church, located at the corner of Polk Township and H.T.Y. roads in Kresgeville.

Historical society

Chestnuthill Township Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building on Route 715.

The historical society invites residents to join in the group's quest to preserve the township's history.

PIC Award

Pride in Chestnuthill (PIC) voted on the annual Chestnuthill Township Beautification Award at its meeting Oct. 13.

The award will be presented to the winner at the November Chestnuthill Township Supervisors' meeting.

The PIC committee extends its thanks to all the businesses that did an outstanding job, maintaining and beautifying their businesses.

The group welcomes residents or township officials in Monroe County who would like to start a similar program, to attend any of the PIC meetings.

St. Matthew's Bible study

St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown is holding Bible Study classes on Monday nights at 6:30 p.m.

Currently they are studying David in a program by Beth Moore.

The public is invited.

Halloween party

St. Matthew's annual Halloween party will be on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. Those attending should come in costumes.

There will be prizes, games and refreshments.

PTO pumpkin carving

The Polk PTO invites everyone to Pumpkin Carving Night on Friday, Oct. 28 in the Polk gymnasium.

Grades K-2 will be carving from 6-7 p.m. and grades 3-4 will be carving 7:15-8:15 p.m. Polk students and their families are welcome to attend.

Eldred Township Halloween Parade

The Eldred Twp. Halloween Parade is this Sunday, Oct. 23 starting at 1 p.m. The parade route will start in the St. Matthew's UCC's picnic grove, will march past the church, right on to Fiddletown Road then right on Kunkletown Road and end in the parking lot of the Kunkletown Vol. Fire Co.

Salem UCC Al-Anon meeting

Al-Anon Adult Children meetings are on Monday evenings, from 7:30-8:30 p.m., at Salem United Church of Christ, Route 209 and Gilbert Road, Gilbert, (behind the Turkey Hill).

Did you grow up with a problem drinker? Have you been affected by another person's drinking? Al-Anon is for families, relatives and friends whose lives have been affected by alcoholism.

World Lions Day

Western Pocono Lions, Lioness and Leos helped make the local involvement in World Lions Day a success, says Past Council Chair and Chairman Lion Christopher J. Sweeney of the annual project to take seniors for a ride in the countryside to see the fall foliage.

The guests, from four different personal care homes and rehabilitation centers including Brookmont in Effort, Mrs. Bush's in Kunkletown, Getz's in Jonas and Wesley Rehabilitation in Brodheadsville, had a great day outdoors, he adds.
