Middlecreek Christian Church Vacation Bible School

VBS will be held from July 30-Aug. 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. It is open to kids 3-18.

Cowgirls & Cowboys

All week long, the McMichaels United Methodist Church is holding Vacation Bible School. The youngsters from age 3 through 7th grade are learning about Fruits of the Spirit even while in western garb.

Crafts, songs, snacks, games and fellowship are part of the 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. VBS sessions.

Effort UMC will hold its Vacation Bible School from July 30 through Aug. 3.

Please help Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network help those in need in our community. They are in need of cereal, peanut butter and jelly, nonperishable food items and sneakers (new or gently worn.) You can drop these items off at St. Matthew's UCC Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or at the First Niagra Bank in Kresgeville.

Safe Haven Pet Rescue

There will be an adoption day at Tractor Supply in Brodheadsville on Sunday, July 15 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Safe Haven will have young dogs up for adoption at the event. There will also be a volunteer meeting at Cherry's Restaurant in Kresgeville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18.

West End Rotary will meet at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, July 12, at the Western Pocono Community Library. The speaker will be Rick Munson of Paramount Business Enterprise, Inc.

Peace Festival

Our Lady Queen of Peace festival is happening July 13-15. There will be a special Mass at 4 p.m. on July 14, but no 5 o'clock Mass.

Monroe Seniors

Monroe Seniors meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will meet at 9 a.m., Friday, July 13, and Wednesday, July 18. Lunch is planned to be Sloppy Joes with coleslaw and pulled pork.

Chestnuthill Property ID Signs must be up by the end of July. There is still time to order your sign at the park and install by the deadline. Proceeds benefit the West End Fire Co., ambulance and WEPOSC. Hours to order at the park building are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. PVEN needs cereal and sneakers

Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is low on food and funds. To help, St. Matthew's UCC is collecting cereal for the next few months, as well as donations of any nonperishable food item.

In addition to food, PVEN is having a sneaker drive for school age children for the upcoming school year. They must be mostly solid white or black, as per the Pleasant Valley School District dress code.

Collecting for children

Effort UMC's United Methodist Women's group will be meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, July 9. The group is collecting donations of new book bags and school supplies for children of the church's Supplemental Family Resource Center to be distributed in August.

At the July 9 meeting Nita Nydem will lead the devotions and Ruth Flechsig and Dee Juris are in charge of refreshments.

Waggin Tails Rescue Annual Picnic

This year the Waggin Tails Rescue Annual Picnic will be on Sunday July 8 from noon until 4 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Route 209 in Gilbert, in the back where the picnic tables are.

There will be lots of food and fun.

They will need people to bring burgers, burger buns, hot dogs, hot dog buns, cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, paper products and soda, along with plastic utensils, ice, cups, charcoal, lighter fluid, dessert items and condiments.
