Nesquehoning

Conservation club

The Nesquehoning Conservation Club will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at MapleShade Meadows. Installation of officers will take place.

Planning for the upcoming fishing derby and youth pheasant hunt next fall will start this month. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Don McGorry or Greg Pecha.

NCFC auxiliary

Members of the New Columbus Fire Company will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at the fire company. Gerry McConnon, president, will conduct the meeting.

The Service of the Lord's Supper will be conducted at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, at the 9 a.m. Worship Service Sunday, Jan. 3.

Sunday School will follow at 10 a.m.

Services will be held at St. Luke's-Miners Memorial at 11 a.m. and at MapleShade, Nesquehoning, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6.

The Coaldale House Decorating Contest sponsored by C.H.O.S.E. was held Thursday evening. Winners were first place Ronald Plocinik, 251 First St., second place Richard Murphy, 35 West High St., and third place Terry Matukonis, 32 Miner St.

Judging was done by members of the Lansford Fire Company.

The Children's Christmas Program will be presented at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27.

In addition, the White Gift presentations will be made during the program.

On Thursday, Dec. 24, the Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion service will be held at 8 p.m.

The regular Sunday morning worship service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 9 a.m.

Tax information

Coaldale Borough Tax Collector Catherine Papesh reminds borough residents the final day to make tax payments for 2009 is Dec. 31. Postmarks will be accepted.

The office will be closed from Thursday through Monday, Dec. 24-28. The tax collector will be open Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 28-31, during regular hours to accept final payments.

The office will also be closed Jan. 1-4.

The children and youth of the church will present a special Christmas Program and White Gift ceremony at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, in the church. Sunday School will be held at 10 a.m.
