VFW ladies

The Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the post home. President Cathy Sommers will preside at the session.

District 20 President Karen Bandzi will be present to inspect the auxiliary. All members attending are requested to bring a dessert item. Following the meeting, a social hour will be held.

Will remember loved ones

On All Saints' Day, Nov. 1, the congregation of St. John's Lutheran Church (1 East Abbott St., Lansford) will remember all its members as well as other family and friends' loved ones who have died in the last 12 months.

Summit Hill

Lighting of graves

St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has announced plans for its annual Lighting of the Graves observance for All Souls and All Saints days. The ceremony serves to remind church members and friends of those who have passed away.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the lighting of the luminaries at the parish's White Bear cemetery will take place after the 4 p.m. Mass.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, the lighting will take place at 6 p.m. at the parish's Summit Hill cemetery.

League to meet

Conservation club

The Nesquehoning Conservation Club will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m., at Maple Shade Meadows ALC.

At this time the club will be accepting nominations for officers and trustees for the 2010-2011 term.

Elections will be held in December. Members are also asked to bring in their Redner's Save-A-Tapes. The club will be looking for volunteers for the spring fishing derby at the meeting.
