Program for Catholics

The three area Catholic churches will participate in "Encountering the Merciful Savior," an effort to increase the number of Catholics who receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Programs will take place on Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Nesquehoning; Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 10-11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Summit Hill; and on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 6-7 p.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Church, Lansford.

Senior centeractivities

2010 PV All night party

A meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the high school library for the Panther Valley All Night Party.

Topics of discussion will be the current pierogie sale and a schedule will be set for the decorating committee to begin meeting at the Coaldale Complex.

All ideas and suggestions for the party to benefit all graduating seniors are welcome.

With the recent reorganization of the Lansford Borough Council, President Bob Gaughan has made the following committee appointments for 2010:

Summit Hill

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Feb. 28, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will preside at both services.

The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Presbyterian church

The schedule for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, Feb. 28, is as follows:

Outreach meeting

The Outreach Committee of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the home of Mary Ellen Ogozalek, 246 E. Bertsch St.

The meeting is open to interested persons.
