St. John's

At 7 p.m. each Wednesday St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, holds an informal worship: a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult and children's Bible study at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Rev. Senior box pick up is Oct. 1 for the month of October. It is the first Friday in October because the last day of September is a Thursday.

Water authority

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Water Authority will be held at the authority's pump house in White Bear, as opposed to the borough hall. The session is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.

John Michalik, president, will be in charge of the session.

Healing ministry is slated

A bereavement group at St. Francis of Assisi in Nesquehoning is forming for anyone struggling with the grief process in the loss of a loved one, regardless if the loss is recent or happened a long time ago.

The Fall Session Bereavement Group will begin Monday, Oct. 11, and will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. each Monday for a period of six to eight weeks. The group will meet in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall, Mill Street, Nesquehoning.

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Sept. 19, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services.

St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Nesquehoning will celebrate is 75th anniversary with a service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19 at the church followed by a dinner at Penn's Peak.

Coaldale Lions meetings

The Coaldale Lions Club will resume its indoor meeting schedule this month.

The first meeting of the group will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, and the second meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28. Both meetings will take place at the Viennese Villa in Coaldale and start at 5:45 p.m. President Robert E. Ames will preside.

On Sunday, Sept,12, the First Baptist Church will be having itssecond annual Old Time Revival Block Party.

The block party will be held at the entire block of 15 West Ridge Street in Lansford. There will be an outside service which starts at 11 a.m. for anyone that is interested.

The block party fun starts at 1 p.m. There will be music, games, rides, face painting, food, funnel cake and much more.
