Trinity Lutheran Church

The Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansford on Friday, Dec. 24 will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion service at 8 p.m.

A regular morning worship service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 26 at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers had as special guests at their Dec. 13 meeting, musicians from Our Lady of the Angels Academy. The 16 students range from grade three to eight. They are under the direction of teacher Tom Dowd.

Summit Hill

Christmas schedule

The Rev. James Burdess, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has announced the parish's Christmas season schedule of services as follows:

Christmas Masses - Friday, Dec. 24, 4 and 9 p.m.; and Christmas Day, 9 a.m.

For the Feast of the Holy Family, there will be Sunday (Dec. 26) morning Masses only. They will be celebrated at 9 and 11 a.m.

New Year's Masses - Friday, Dec. 31, 6:30 p.m.; and New Year's Day, 9 a.m.

On Dec. 19 at 6 p.m., the Lansford Historical Society Victorian Christmas Program/ Panther Valley Public Library will hold an Open House. Refreshments will be provided by both Historical Society and Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford.

Remembering Sister

Christmas party

American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Christmas party for all children from the community on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the post home.

A benefit dance will be held at the Panther Valley High School on Friday, Dec. 17, starting at 7 p.m. The proceeds will benefit an ailing student.

A DJ will be donating his time for the evening. The dance is sponsored by the student council.

Food drive

The Panther Valley Breaker Boys football team will hold a food drive on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 15 W. Ridge St., Lansford.

They are asking the community to donate canned goods and nonperishable food items during the aforementioned times.

The items will be delivered to Lansford's Food Pantry and the food pantry at St. Katherine Drexel's Church.

The pantries will distribute food to families in need.

Food drive

The Panther Valley Breaker Boys football team will hold a food drive on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 15 W. Ridge St., Lansford.

They are asking the community to donate canned goods and nonperishable food items during the aforementioned times. The items will be delivered to Lansford's Food Pantry. The pantry will then distribute the food to families in need during the Christmas holiday.

Trinity Lutheran Church

The Trinity Lutheran Church of Lansford will hold a Christmas program during the worship service on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m. There will be readings by members of the congregation as well as solos by church musician Susan Featro.

This will be followed by refreshments in the Sunday School rooms.

On Friday, Dec. 24, the Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion service will beheld at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these services.

Nesquehoning

Community service

In Nesquehoning, the Girl Scout troops will host a community Christmas tree lighting and caroling at Meed's UMC Church, 126 W. Catawissa St. on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend and join in the caroling. Cookies and hot chocolate will be enjoyed following the singing.

Donations of new hats or gloves to place on the tree as a would be appreciated. Items will be taken to the Panther Valley Elementary School.

The Panther Valley Knee Hi will meet at the Sports Zoo in Lansford on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Summit Hill

Christmas party

American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Christmas party for all children from the community on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the post home.

The festivities will begin at 1 o'clock when Santa Claus will arrive. He will greet the children and give each of them a pre-Christmas gift. Food and refreshments will be served.
