The Summit Hill Republican Club will be holding an important meeting on Thursday, November 11 at 7 p.m. in the Borough Hall for the purpose of reorganization and discussion of future goals. This is an important meeting and all members and interested residents are encouraged to attend. Vice Chairman David Wargo will be facilitating this meeting.

Panther Valley School District has scheduled parent/teacher conferences on Nov. 10, 11 and 12 in the afternoon.

The following schedule will accommodate parents who have work or personal commitments in the day: Nov. 10 at the elementary school from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m., Nov. 11, at the middle school and high school from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The goal is to form a home/school partnership, where there is a cooperative relationship between the parent and teacher to help the child achieve success.

Summit Hill

Methodist Charge

Harvest Home will be observed on Sunday, Nov. 7, by the two congregations of the Coaldale /Summit Hill United Methodist Charge.

The service in the Summit Hill church will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the service at 11 o'clock in the Coaldale church.

The Rev. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services.

Members of both congregations are asked to bring canned goods and nonperishable food items for the service.

The items will be donated to the local food bank.

VFW Post 8008, Nesquehoning, will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the post home. President Amanda Breiner will preside.

Anyone attending the Veterans Day Parade in Palmerton on Sunday, Nov. 7 should be at the post home by noon on Sunday.

Cub Scout meeting

Lansford Cub Scout Pack 737 will meet at the American Legion, Post 123 on the lower level (entrance on Tunnel Street) on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 6:15 p.m.

Any boy, first through fifth grade, who wants to join may still register.

The Panther Valley Public Library will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 9 for those who wish to volunteer. The library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, is also holding story time from 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays.

Golden Agers

The Panther Valley Golden Agers will meet on Monday, Nov. 8 with a guest therapist from St. Luke's Miners Hospital. If there is enough interest, bingo will be played. This will be the last time to sign-up for the Christmas party to be held at La Dolce Restaurant on Nov. 28, starting at 1 p.m.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will conduct Individual BenefitsCheckUps at the Carbon County Agency of Aging Panther Valley Senior Nutrition Center, located in the School House Apartments, 90 E. Catawissa Street, at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10. This checkup is available free of charge to anyone 55 years or older, or 18 years and older and on disability. The checkup, sponsored by the National Council on Aging, is free and confidential. The goal of the checkup is to help people learn if they are potentially eligible for state, county and federal benefits of which they are unaware.

The next meeting of the JROTC of the Panther Valley High School Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. Discussion will include fundraisers and the Christmas party.

PV Elementary School

The annual Halloween parade by the students and staff of the Panther Valley Elementary School is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29. Students will dress in costumes after lunch and the parade will commence from the elementary school at approximately 1:45 p.m.
