Summer parking

Coaldale residents are reminded that the summer parking regulations are now in effect. There is no left side to curb parking allowed, other than designated streets. The police will enforce these regulations and violators will be cited.

Summit Hill

History of St. Luke's presentation

The Summit Hill Historical Society will host a presentation on "The History of St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale" on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 West Hazard St.

The presenter is Joseph Tocci of the Radiology Department and will include many photos.

Conservation Club

The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at Maple Shade Meadows beginning at 6:30 p.m. Plans for the upcoming fishing derby will be discussed.

Members are asked to bring along their Redner's Save-A-Tapes.

Anyone who has not paid their 2013 dues are asked to do so at this time.

St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will observe the following schedule for Holy Week:

Ÿ On March 28, Maundy Thursday service with Holy Communion will be held at 7 p.m.

Ÿ On Good Friday, March 29, a service of shadows Tenebrae will begin at 7 p.m.

Holy Week services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 E. Abbott St., will observed the following Holy Week schedule:

Ÿ Holy Thursday service with Communion will be on March 28 at 7 p.m.

St. Paul's at a glance

St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 123 W. White St., Summit Hill announces the following schedule:

Palm Sunday worship service with Holy Communion will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Vicar Ben Seibert presiding.

A confirmation class will be held on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Maundy Thursday worship with Holy Communion will be held at 8 p.m. on March 28.

Good Friday worship will begin at noon.

On Saturday, March 30 an Easter vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Holy Week Services

The Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack, pastor of First Congregational Church, Coaldale, welcomes all to attend Holy Week Services at the church.

On Sunday, March 24, at 9 a.m., a Palm Sunday Service will be held with the distribution of palms. Sunday School will take place at 10 a.m.

A Passover Meal and Easter Story in scripture and song will be presented at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, March 26, at the church. The public is welcome to attend this event.

Choir rehearsal will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27.

Panther Valley

Golden Agers

The March 11 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with a prayer to St. Patrick. Sue Dopira led the group singing Irish Ballads. The group extended a welcome back to Janet Keich after a long absence and welcomed new members Mike Vigoda and Mary Bidel.

Plans are being made for the annual picnic to be held at the No. 9 Mine. A Chinese auction will be included.

The Panther Valley JROTC Booster Club will meet on Monday, March 18, at 6 p.m.in the JROTC Room. Cadets, family members, and interested community members are encouraged to attend. Help is needed to make this a successful year.

First Congregational Church

Services and activities for First Congregational Church, Coaldale, for next week are as follows:

Sunday, March 17 - 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School for all ages

Tuesday, March 19 - 7 p.m. Women's Class. Women from all area communities are invited to attend.

Wednesday, March 20 - 6 p.m. Kids Klub; 7 p.m. Lenten Service followed by choir practice.

Sunday, March 24 - 9 a.m. Palm Sunday Service; 10 a.m. Sunday School. Everyone is welcome to attend any of these services.

Free haircuts

There will be free haircuts for kids from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at Meed's Methodist Church, 126 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning. Adult haircuts will also be given for a donation.

The clothing store at the church will also be open during that time.
