Preschool story hour

The Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, offers a free, preschool story hour every Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Stories, snacks and activities are provided for the children.

Blood drive

The Miller-Keystone Center will conduct a blood drive at St. Katherine Drexel Church, 124 E. Abbott St., Lansford on Monday, Oct. 14 from 1-6 p.m.

Participants may walk in or can make an appointment by calling John Karnish at 570-645-3994.

Golden Agers

The Sept. 23 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers began with prayer and the singing of the club song. New members were welcomed.

Sign-ups are now being taken for the annual Christmas party to take place beginning at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1. The last day to sign up is Nov. 12. For more information, contact Irene Hudasky.

First Congregational Church

Morning Worship and the Lord's Supper will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at First Congregational Church, Coaldale. Sunday School will follow at 10 a.m.

There will be no choir rehearsal on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

On Sunday, Oct.13, Morning Worship will be at 9 a.m., with Sunday School at 10 a.m.

St. John Lutheran

Tonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer. Bible study is offered at 6:30 p.m., following FTP dinner, which begins at 5 p.m.

Free seminar on scams and fraud

A representative from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General will present a free seminar on rip-offs, fraud, scams and cons on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center.

The seminar is geared toward senior citizens but is applicable to everyone and is open to the public.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 was held on Sept. 10 at the Post Home with treasurer Maureen Hirocheck presiding.

Nesquehoning

Healing ministry

St. Francis of Assisi Church in Nesquehoning extends a personal invitation to anyone struggling with the grief process in the loss of a loved one to the Fall Bereavement Group, which begins Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6:30-8 p.m., in the parish library, located in the basement of the rectory at 15 East Garibaldi Ave.

Sessions will continue each Tuesday for six weeks and are strictly confidential.

See You at the Pole

On Wednesday, Sept. 25 beginning at 7 a.m., Panther Valley High School students, teachers, faculty and parents are invited to meet

at the high school flag pole to participate in the global day of student prayer known as See You at the Pole.

This student-led event will begin promptly at 7 a.m. prior to the start of school.

Coaldale

Fall cleanup

Coaldale Borough will have its annual fall cleanup day on Thursday, Oct. 3. Large items will be picked up, including washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, a limit of four tires and tire rims.

All items must have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage, not to exceed 50 pounds, or containers, not to exceed 20 gallon, will be collected.

No televisions or electronics.
