Lions Club

The Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, May 3, at the Palmerton Community Center, 217 Franklin Ave., Palmerton.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, May 1. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at the Mahoning Valley Country Club.

Navy Club meets

The Navy Club of the USA, USS Carbon County Ship 260, will meet at 7:30 p.m. April 26 at the Lehighton American Legion. Commander Stanley Jaroszewski will be in charge.

All members are asked to attend, as votes will be held on some important questions. There will be a guest speaker.

Interested parties, guests and new members are welcome.

The club is open to all Coast Guard, Marine, Merchant Marine and Navy veterans, active and reserves.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. All are welcome to attend for a meal and fellowship.

Palmerton Area Youth Group

The next meeting of the Palmerton Area Youth Group will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

The Parryville Borough Council is interested in hearing your opinion on the current shared police service agreement with Weissport. The council is considering a proposal in which the borough would begin paying for this service. Council is interested in feedback from the residents on the proposal. The council meeting will be held on April 30 at 7 p.m. at the Parryville Fire Company to share your thoughts.

The First Presbyterian Church, 304 Mahoning St., Lehighton, will host the Glee Club of Union League of Philadelphia at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday April 18.

The concert is free, however, donations will be accepted.

The concert is to benefit Lehighton Interfaith Furniture Bank and the First Presbyterian Church's sister church in Romania.

The April meeting of the Lehighton Borough Council will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Lehighton Municipal Building.

The meeting is generally held the fourth Monday of the month, but was changed for April because of a conflicting event.

Learn about Bluebirds

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 12, in the Palmerton Library's Gallery. After a brief business meeting, Don Bonnet will present a program on bluebirds, including some amazing video. The public is invited, without cost or obligations.

The Relay For Life of Palmerton and Surrounding Areas will be meeting on Thursday, April 8 in the Palmerton High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. for all committee members and 7 p.m. for all team captains and participants. A prize will be awarded to the team that turns in the most money at the meeting. All participants are reminded that the deadline to turn in money for a guaranteed t-shirt at the event is Friday, April 9.
