LAHS Class of 1970

Lehighton Area High School Class of 1970 will hold a planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the Orioles Community Center, Orioles Drive, Lehighton, to finalize plans for their reunion which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Orioles Community Center. LAHS yearbook pickups

Lehighton Area High School yearbooks have arrived. Books can be picked up in the high school office from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

New student orientation

An orientation program for all students entering Lehighton Area High School for the first time will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the high school auditorium.

St. Peter EC plans VBS

St. Peter's Evangelical Church, 177 Main St., Weissport, will host Vacation Bible School next week. Sessions will be held from 6-8 p.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 9 and concluding on Aug. 13. The theme is "Kingdom of the Son."

Classes include a story time, snacks and crafts. There will be songs to learn. Each evening will include a segment of the Lord's prayer. Preregister by calling Janet Freeby at (610) 377-4148 or children of all ages can register on the first evening at 5:45 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold its annual picnic on Monday, Aug. 9, at the farm of a society member, Bert Holczman, Andreas. The raindate is Tuesday, Aug. 10. This event is available to society members and guests only. Arrival time is anytime after 4 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish, casserole or dessert. If you haven't already done so, sign up by calling (610) 377-3769 by Monday, Aug. 2.

Park concert

At 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, the Hazleton Band will perform a concert in the Palmerton Borough Park. Please bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Come for a free meal and fellowship.

Park Concert

On Sunday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m., the Allentown Marine Band will perform a concert in the Palmerton Borough Park. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held in the Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave. Bring a lawn chair.
