Over 60 Club

The Palmerton Over 60 Club will meet at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Palmerton Borough Hall. The program will be bingo and cards.

Camera Club

From 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 15, the Palmerton Camera Club will hold a free camera workshop at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. A book discussion group is forming at the Lehighton Area Memorial Library. The club will meet on the third Tuesday of every month and will discuss a different book each month. Come join us for a rewarding and fulfilling experience. The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18. The book to be discussed is "Last Night at the Lobster," by Stewart O'Nan. Palmerton Area Historical Society

At 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, the Palmerton Area Historical Society will meet at the Palmerton Library. John Gunnser will challenge those present to identify antique items from his collection. Members and guests are encouraged to bring their own unusual or unidentified antiques for him and the audience to recognize. The public is invited to attend without cost or obligation.

The Palmerton Area Historical Society is starting off the new year with a bang-up program. Jack's back- Jack Gunsser, that is!

Jack will be sharing some of his treasures, and he encourages those attending to bring along some "goodies" of their own. The meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 10 in the Knight's Gallery of the Palmerton Area Library. A brief business meeting will start at 7 p.m., followed by the presentation.

The hours for payments for the final week of the year for Mahoning Township tax collector Richard Swarcheck will be as follows: Monday, from 1-7 p.m.; Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. (please note change); Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; Thursday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; and Friday from 10 a.m. until noon.

Successful bloodmobile

Miller-Keystone Blood Center's community bloodmobile at the First United Church of Christ in Palmerton on Dec. 13 drew 76 registrants, slightly exceeding the goal of 75. Four deferrals, plus multiple-unit donations on the Trima machines, resulted in a total of 71 units of blood being collected.

High school bloodmobile results

Thirty-four potential donors registered for the Miller-Keystone bloodmobile at Palmerton Area High School on Dec. 2, where 21 units of blood were collected.

Assisting at the high school were the following National Honor Society members: Blake Campbell, Jilian Farkas, Elizabeth Hahn, William Heinick, Lyndsey Heinrick, Amber Hettler, Brianna Hoglen, Megan Mummey, Kaitlin Reimer, Kristen Romano, Abigail Storm and Derek Szena.

Mrs. Scholl, art teacher at East Penn and Franklin elementary schools awards an "Artist of the Month" for each grade.
