The Palmerton Area Library has announced a number of programs that will be taking place over the next few months. They are as follows:

Preschool Story Hour

Preschool Story Hour is held at 10:30 a.m. on each Friday through the school year and will resume on Sept. 2. All are welcome.

Knitting Club

From 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 20, the Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library. Anyone interested in knitting, crocheting, or other crafts is welcome to attend. All levels of experience are invited. The club is free.

Historical society

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 13, in the gallery of the Palmerton Area Library. The program for the evening will be presented by Mary Behler on her hobby of Parchment Craft. A brief business meeting will start at 7 p.m., followed by the program. The public is invited to attend, without cost or obligation.

Heritage center

The quilts that have been on display at the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., have been replaced by another group of antique quilts. The center is open various hours from Wednesday through Saturday each week. Phone (610) 824-6954 for a recording that lists hours each day. Admission is free.

Miller Bloodmobile

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct its next bimonthly bloodmobile visit to Palmerton on Tuesday, June 7. As usual, the location will be the First United Church of Christ, next to borough hall. This visit is sponsored by Larry and Sandra Engle.

Community meal

From 4-6 p.m., Thursday, May 26, a free community meal will be held at St. John Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Come and enjoy a meal and fellowship. No dishes to wash.

Teen advisory group

The Teen Advisory Group will meet at the Palmerton Area Library after school on Wednesday, June 1. The group is for students in grades 7-12. New members are welcome.

LALLC regular meeting

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Harvest Café at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe.

Installation of officers for the 2011-2012 fiscal year will occur with PDG Chris Sweeney serving as installing officer.

Palmerton Lions Club to meet

Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Blue Mountain Community Service Center. Region Chairperson Liz McElwee will review the Community Needs Assessment with members. In addition, a program in memory of "Colby" the hearing dog is planned.
