Egg hunt

Living Hope Lighthouse Church will sponsor a free egg hunt in the Palmerton Borough Park at 10 a.m. Saturday.

There will be prizes, crafts and refreshments.

Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be in the fellowship hall, 705 Third St, Palmerton.

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 9 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton.

Folk music will be the highlight of the program for the evening.

Palmer PTO

A meeting of the Palmer PTO will be held at the elementary school Monday, April 13 at 7 p.m.

Al-Anon Family Groups

Al-Anon Family Groups meet at different locations in the Palmerton Area.

From 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday evenings, Al-Anon Family Group/Serenity Seekers meet at Salem United Methodist Church, 4145 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton.

Alateen support group for teens of families struggling with alcohol and Adult Al-Anon and AA meetings are from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton/Bowmanstown.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship with Holy Communion and distribution of palm fronds at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9 a.m. Guest pastor the Rev. Glenn Simmons presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday church school students ages 3 through grade 12 meet at 10:30 a.m. for the annual palm procession around the block, weather permitting. There will be no Sunday school classes April 5. Classes resume April 12.

Easter egg hunts

As in the past years, there will be two Easter egg hunts in the Palmerton Borough.

The first will be held at 11 a.m. March 28 at the Palmerton Memorial Park Grove.

Following that one, make your way to the Palmerton Borough Park for another egg hunt at 1 p.m. Come out and enjoy a fun time.

A rain date will be determined.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave. Palmerton.

All are invited to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Spring fling

East Penn Elementary School Spring Fling will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 28. The event will include a free egg hunt for ages 0-10, a craft show with over 25 vendors and crafters, Kids Carnival, Chinese Auction with prizes including a Great Wolf Lodge Family 4 Pack, Iron Pigs Family pack, Lehigh Valley Laser Tag and more.

This event supports the East Penn Elementary PTO.

Ebenezer UMC

Ebenezer UMC, 119 S. Third St. in Lehighton, is having a pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt on March 28.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., 9 a.m., includes Service of Healing and Blessing of the prayer shawls. The Service of Healing with prayers and the "laying on of hands" are said for those with emotional, physical or spiritual burdens to help one's loads be lightened.

Designated pastor the Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Palmerton Camera Club

The Palmerton Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m. March 26 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 502 Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton.

There will be two events at this month's meeting: Birding Adventures in Trinidad & Tobago.

The speaker/presenter will be Brian Hardiman, educator for Monroe County Environmental Center, who will present a program on the two-island country of Trinidad and Tobago off the coast of Venezuela.

Trinidad & Tobago is a favorite bird watching destination that hosts a diverse array of animals and plant life.

The Knitting Club will meet from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Palmerton Area Library.

This is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.

Food pantry

The Palmerton Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 20.

The food pantry is located at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, Palmerton.

Holy Trinity Lutheran happenings

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton, continues with its Wednesday Evening Lenten Services March 18 and 25.

Bad weather reduces blood drive turnout

Miller-Keystone Blood Center's Palmerton-area community blood drive on March 3 drew 49 potential donors, despite one of this winter's frequent storms. There were 52 units of blood collected.

The drive was sponsored by Irene Shinsec, Bonnie Snyder and John Oblick, all in memory of Jean Behler.

The following donors reached gallon levels: Kyle Ahner, 11 gallons; Brian Wanamaker, 6 gallons; Dale Green, 4 gallons; Maureen Leaswitch, 2 gallons; and Henry Williams, 1 gallon. There was one first-time donor.
