Bethany events

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, North Street, Lehighton will hold Sunday worship with interim pastor, the Rev. Marlin Lafferty at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school classes meet at 9:30 a.m. for all ages including adult Bible study class.

Kid's Club for children in kindergarten to fourth grades meets at 6 p.m. Monday. Prayer Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Choir rehearsal will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Joel Styer, judge for the Palmerton Camera Club's December Salon, will be back on March 27 with a program on Adobe Elements

Lehighton Bible Church

Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center streets, will hold Prison Ministry at 6:30 p.m. Thursday March 20, at the Carbon County Prison.

There will be a hymn sing at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

There will be a men's breakfast and fellowship at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at the Beacon 443 Diner.

Weekly services are held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. All are welcome.

Holy Trinity

Happenings

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold Wednesday Evening Lenten soup and sandwich, and worship on March 12, 19, 26, and April 2, 9. Supper will be from 6-7 p.m., followed by worship from 7-7:30 p.m.

Worship with Holy Communion will be held Sunday, March 16, with services at 8 and 10:45 a.m.

The LWR quilters have been hard at work, but are in need of sheets. If you have sheets to donate, please bring them to the church and label them "LWR." Flat, double bed size works the best, but singles will also do.

LALLC to meet

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in the community room at Blue Mountain Health System Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital campus. Pat Whitehead and Betty Wagner are on the refreshment committee.

The club will host bingo for residents of the Lehighton Hi-Rise at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Board members who are unable to attend the board meeting are asked to notify President Kimberly Babcock before the meeting.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., will hold a 9 a.m. First Sunday in Lent worship service. It includes recognition of Girl Scout troops. Music will be provided by the Trinity Praise Band.

The Rev. Guy Grube will presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes meet for students ages 3 through grade 12 at 10:30 a.m.

World Day of Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Zion United Church of Christ, Second and Iron streets, Lehighton. The theme is "Streams in the Desert."

Video on Red Cross detachment

The Monday, March 10 meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will feature a historic video on The New Jersey Zinc Company's Red Cross Sanitary Detachment.

The video has been reformatted from an early 16-millimeter film. A brief business meeting begins at 7 p.m., followed by the video. The public is welcome. There is no charge.

Newspaper drive

Members of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, March 1. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery-size brown paper bags.
