Palmerton Lions to meet

Palmerton Lions will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 18 at Fireline Hotel. Marsha Resch, emergency department manager at Blue Mountain Health System, will be the speaker and will offer special tips on personal emergency/disaster preparedness.

Third Monday Book Club

Track and field camp planned

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive West, Lehighton, will hold a Co-ed Track and Field Camp for children ages 5 through 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 18-22. Lunch will be provided. The event will be held rain or shine.

S.S. Palmer High School Class of 1957 will hold its 55th Class Reunion on June 9, with a family-style dinner at the Blue Ridge Country Club. A social hour with cash bar will begin at 4 p.m. A group photo will be taken, followed by the meal at 5 p.m. For more information, please visit

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, May 5. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Trinity Church events

This Sunday, April 22, is designated as Youth Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., at the 9 a.m. service. The youth of the congregation will be the leaders: greeters, ushers, lectors, and deliver the sermon. The Trinity Praise Band featuring vocalists, percussion and guitars will have the musical format in a contemporary style of worship. All are invited to attend.

The Palmerton Food Pantry, located at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 20.

Help wanted

The Meals on Wheels program in Palmerton is always in need of more volunteers. Deliveries are made from the Palmerton Hospital about 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, holidays included. Each route requires less than one hour. If you can't commit for a certain day each week, perhaps you would be willing to substitute as needed.

Christ Evangelical Free Church

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive West, Lehighton, will present the movie, "A Vow to Cherish," on Saturday, April 21. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Refreshments to follow the movie.

The church will also hold a hymn sing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22. All are welcome to join the service.

Palmerton Lions will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the Fire Line Hotel. Members are encouraged to bring a guest and/or family member to the meeting. The club is preparing for its Community Spirit Night on May 2, when several nonprofit community organizations will receive monetary support.

LDIC plans events

Lehighton Downtown Initiative Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Lehighton Grove, Lehighton. LDIC is planning the Great Lehighton Clean Up, for Earth Day at noon Sunday, April 22; Lehighton Community Days on May 18-19; and Lehighton Bike Night from noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 11.

Volunteers are needed to take part in the planning and organizing process. Anyone interested in helping, is asked to attend the meeting.
