LCRC meeting

Members of the Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at the Weissport trail head pavilion.

There are no minutes from last month as there was no meeting due to lack of a quorum. The minutes to be approved are from May.

Lehighton AMVETS

Lehighton AMVETS, Elwood Miller Post 106, will hold their annual picnic meeting on Saturday, July 28, at the home of Bob and Carol White, Orchard Road, Lehighton.

Doors open at noon. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m.

Identity theft seminar planned

An identity theft seminar will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at St. Peter and Paul School hall, 30 Coal St., Lehighton. The program will be presented by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The seminar includes information about the latest tricks used by crooks. Find out how to protect your good credit. Know what to do if your identity is stolen.

Park concert

At 7 p.m., Sunday, July 22, "Remember When" performs in the Palmerton Borough Park. Bring your own lawn chair.

In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave. Next week, July 29, the Nazareth Community Band will perform at 6 p.m.

Community meal

From 4-6 p.m., Thursday, July 26, a free community meal will be served at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton.

The public is welcome to enjoy a meal and fellowship.

LALLC board to meet

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at the Gothard Realty Office located on Interchange Road in Lehighton.

Historical society plans picnic

The Palmerton Area Historical Society is planning its annual picnic for Monday, Aug. 13.

So the committee will know how many people to expect, members and guests should contact society President Jane Borbe at (610) 767-5638.

The picnic will begin at 5:30 p.m. at member Bert Holczman's farm in Ashfield.

Hot dogs and beverages will be provided.

Those attending are requested to bring a casserole or dessert, their own utensils, and lawn chairs. Swimming will be available.

The rain date is Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Hospital auxiliary exhibit

The Feature Room at the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., has an exhibit honoring the Palmerton Hospital Auxiliary, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The auxiliary operates the Owl's Nest gift shop in Palmerton Hospital and the Nearly New Shop on Delaware Avenue, in addition to other special events during the year, and turns the substantial proceeds over to the Hospital.

Beltzville Lions will meet

All Saints plans free dinner

All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, will host a free community dinner from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, July 19. The menu is hot dogs, macaroni salad and chips. Everyone is invited.

Model railroad

From 1-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 7, 8, 14, and 15, the Carbon Model Railroad Society, 529 Ore Street, Bowmanstown, will hold a Christmas in July Open House.

The main HO scale display is in various stages of completion and is an excellent learning tool. The clubs portable HO and N scale displays will also be in operation on the second floor. Admission is free.
