LALLC to meet

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe. Members are asked to make a note of the change in the meeting date.

Dolly Woody from the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be on hand to accept a check from proceeds raised during the recent quilt raffle.

Borough representatives will also be visiting. Lions are encouraged to invite a guest or family member to attend the dinner. Reservations can be made by contacting Linda Benner at (610) 377-3685.

Miller Keystone blood drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct its bimonthly blood drive on Friday, Dec. 16, at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall. Registration hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 3-5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by Quinton and Dolly Snyder.

From 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, a free community meal will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

All are welcome to enjoy a meal and fellowship.

Miller-Keystone Blood drives

There will be two Miller Blood Drives in Palmerton in the month of December. The first will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

AMVETS to meet

Lehighton AMVETS, Elwood Miller Post 106, will hold its annual Christmas party meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Lehighton Legion Post 314. Doors will open at noon with the meeting starting at 3 p.m.

Band performing

Lehighton Area High School Band will hold its annual Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8. In conjunction with his concert there will be a fundraiser for the band to be able to purchase some much needed equipment.

No paper drive

There will be no newspaper drive by St. John's Lutheran Church in December. The drive will resume in January.

Persons wishing to dispose of papers may take them to the garage across from the church on Fireline Road, which is always open.

Ecumenical service at Little White Church

The Palmerton Area Historical Society's annual ecumenical service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. (following the carol sing in the borough park) in the Little White Church at Third Street and Columbia Avenue, Palmerton.

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will hold a meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. The program will be a Christmas Holiday with the Pleasant Valley Choral Society.

Open house

The Carbon Model Railroad Society will hold an open house at 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown, on Thursdays, Dec. 1, 8, 15, and 29, as well as on Jan. 5, from 7-9 p.m.

Franklin Elementary School lists news

Senator David Argall will be visiting Franklin Elementary School on Tuesday, Nov. 22 to be a reader.

Students are taking part in the "Thanks for giving," food collection for Trinity Food Pantry. The campaign will continue until Nov. 22.

Franklin Elementary PTO is sponsoring the entire Franklin Elementary School to go to Mahoning Cinema's to see the movie "Happy Feet 2" on at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. This is the Christmas gift from the PTO to the students.

Thanksgiving Eve Service

A Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, at 7 p.m. Nov. 23. This will be an informal service in the Fellowship Hall. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be served. All are invited to bring cookies and your favorite coffee mug.

Teen Advisory Group
