LAHS posts homeroom lists

The first day of school for Lehighton Area High School students will be Monday, Aug. 27. Students should report to school by 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival to school, grade 9 and 10 student should report to the gym and grade 11 and 12 should report to the auditorium.

Homeroom lists will be posted at outside entrances to the high school on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 23 and will also be posted in the foyer area on the first day of school.

Miller Blood Drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will be conducting its bimonthly community blood drive on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall, from 12:30-5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by the Palmerton Concourse Club.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold a Service of the Word worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton at the 9 a.m. Sunday service. The program will include a report from the recent ELCA Youth Gathering. Eleven teens and six adult chaperones were among 33,000 "Citizens with the Saints" for a five-day experience in New Orleans in late July. Coffee House fellowship follows. All are welcome.

Park concert

At 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 12, the Hazleton Band will perform a concert in the Palmerton Borough Park Band Shell. Bring your own lawn chair.

In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave. Next week, Aug. 19, the Palmerton Band will close out the summer concert series.

At 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 15, the Palmerton Area Library board of directors will hold a meeting at the library. The meeting is open to the public. Call the library at (610) 826-3424 for more information.

Palmerton Lions to meet

Palmerton Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Palmerton High Rise, community room, Delaware Avenue, Palmerton. Plans are under way for the club's participation in the Carbon County Fair.

Knitting Club

From 6-8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, the Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library. The club is for all area residents interested in knitting, crocheting, and other crafts. LCRC meeting

Members of the Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at the Weissport trail head pavilion.

There are no minutes from last month as there was no meeting due to lack of a quorum. The minutes to be approved are from May.

Lehighton AMVETS

Lehighton AMVETS, Elwood Miller Post 106, will hold their annual picnic meeting on Saturday, July 28, at the home of Bob and Carol White, Orchard Road, Lehighton.

Doors open at noon. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m.

An identity theft seminar will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at St. Peter and Paul School hall, 30 Coal St., Lehighton. The program will be presented by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The seminar includes information about the latest tricks used by crooks. Find out how to protect your good credit.
