Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold a dinner celebrating the incorporation of Palmerton Borough on Sept. 25 at the Blue Ridge County Club, beginning at 6 p.m. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. The speaker is George Duell.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., Lehighton, will hold Worship Service of the Word, at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23. This will include the observance of "Harvest Home."

This is a time set aside in the fall for thankfulness for the bounties of the harvest.

A donation of a nonperishable food item (such as tuna, jelly, pasta) is requested.

All food items will remain at Trinity for distribution via the pantry.

Substitute clergy will preside during the pastoral vacancy.

Homework Helpers

Homework Helpers will begin at the Palmerton Area Library on Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 3-4:30 p.m., and will be held every Wednesday from 3-4:40 p.m.

Volunteer tutors will help your child with their homework and other assignments. It is free, but parents must register each child. Stop in or call the library at (610) 826-3424 for more information.

Book Signing

There will be a book signing at the Palmerton Area Library at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, with local author Elicia Stein, of her book, "The PTA Man."

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Gothard Realty office, Interchange Road, Lehighton. Board members who are unable to attend are asked to notify President Lisa Whitehead before the meeting.

All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, will host a free community dinner from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. Everyone is invited.

Blessing of the animals

St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 222 Church St., Lehighton, will hold a Blessing of the Pets at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in St. Matthew's parking lot. Pets should be on a leash on in a carrier.

All are welcome.

LAHS Class of 2013

LAHS Class of 2013 All Night Party Planning Committee will host a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 in the high school cafeteria.

All parents and guardians of students in the graduating class of 2013 are encouraged to attend.

There will be discussion regarding the all night party, fundraising and committee sign ups.

FT Historical Society forming

A few Franklin Township residents are considering forming a historical society.

A meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Franklin Township Municipal Building, 900 Fairyland Road, Lehighton.

Anyone interested is encouraged to attend this meeting.

Trinity Lutheran Church services

Contemporary worship service features the Trinity Praise Band at 9 a.m., Sept 9. The Rev. Carl G. Schweitzer presides.

The re-opening of the Trinity nursery will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 9 for children up to 6 years old. The nursery will be staffed with an experienced caregiver who is trained in CPR and first aid, and a youth volunteer.

Weekly Sunday School returns at 10:15 a.m., Sept. 9 as "Rally Day" for ages 3 through 12th grade. Special activities include songs with Sue, crafts and presentation of Bibles to fourth-grade students.

Story hour

Preschool Story Hour at the Palmerton Area Library will resume at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7. This is free and open to the public, and will continue throughout the school year.

Community meal

From 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, a free community meal will be served at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. The public is welcome to enjoy a free meal and fellowship.
