Miller Bloodmobile

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct its regular bimonthly bloodmobile at the First United Church of Christ's Fellowship Hall (next to borough hall) on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Registration hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 3-5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by DeSousa Oil & Service.

In addition to the reserved parking on Delaware Avenue, off-street parking will be available at Penn Northeast (both sides of the building), by permission of the owners.

Zoning officer hours

The Lehighton Zoning Officer's new part-time hours will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

Halloween parade

Lehighton Halloween Parade will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m.

Trick or Treat night

Lehighton Trick or Treat night will be Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 6-8 p.m. Please leave your porch lights on for the Trick-or-Treaters.

Trick or Treat night

Weissport, Lehighton and Franklin Township will hold Trick or Treat night from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in their respective communities.

Garbage collection date change

Franklin Township residents should note that garbage collection for Columbus Day holiday will be changed from Monday, Oct. 10 to Tuesday, Oct. 11.

LCRC plans meeting

Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Weissport trailhead. All members are encouraged to attend.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, Oct. 1. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Lioness Lions to meet

The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions will meet at 6 p.m., Oct. 6 at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute. District Gov. Scott Dudley will be visiting. In addition, the club will present checks to the Lehighton Pool Pals, fire company, library and police. Members are encouraged to invite a guest or family member.

Beltzville Lions to meet

Beltzville Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the home of Gail and Robert Maholick, 576 Main Road, Lehighton. Any new members interested in attending a meeting should contact Gail at (610) 377-5559 or email carey@ptd.net.

The agenda will include formalizing plans for the Old Fashioned Hay Ride and Fall Fest.

Women of Church History

The Hazleton/Lehighton Cluster of the Women of the ELCA are sponsoring a program entitled "Kate, Anna, and Me ... So Who Are You?" at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 500 Ore St., Bowmanstown, on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m.

It is a presentation of three women from different areas of church history. Katharina von Bora (Martin Luther's wife), Anna Marie Weiser Muhlenberg (Henry Melcor Muhlenberg's wife), and a modern day woman, who discuss changes and similarities in faith practices and lifestyles over 400-plus years.

People's Church plans pavilion dedication

People's Evangelical Congregational Church, 216 Wagner Street, will host an outdoor service to dedicate a new pavilion at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. The service will include a concert by Lost and Found, as well as a Sept 11 commemoration. Lawn chairs are encouraged. Everyone is welcome. Call 610-377-1696 for additional information.
