Second Blessings open

Second Blessings, a clothing share ministry of Bethany EC Church on North Street, Lehighton, will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 and again on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6-9 p.m.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, Jan. 7. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting paper bags only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery-size, brown paper bags.

Beltzville Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan 9 at Zion United Church of Christ, Second and Iron streets, Lehighton. Franklin Township has changed the date of garbage collection due to the New Year holiday. Collection for Monday, Jan. 2, has been changed to Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Franklin Township supervisors will reorganize at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. The regular township meeting will follow at 4 p.m. This meeting takes the place of the Jan. 17 meeting. There will be no meeting on Jan. 17.

LALLC to meet

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe. Members are asked to make a note of the change in the meeting date.

Dolly Woody from the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be on hand to accept a check from proceeds raised during the recent quilt raffle.

Borough representatives will also be visiting. Lions are encouraged to invite a guest or family member to attend the dinner. Reservations can be made by contacting Linda Benner at (610) 377-3685.

Miller Keystone blood drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct its bimonthly blood drive on Friday, Dec. 16, at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall. Registration hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 3-5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by Quinton and Dolly Snyder.

From 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, a free community meal will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.
