Food pantry

The Palmerton Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19.

The pantry is located at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. For information, call (610) 826-4335.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Halloween parade

The Palmerton Halloween Parade will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21. The rain date is Monday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

CROP Walk planned

The CROP Walk for the Lehighton/Weissport area will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Lehigh Canal Park in Weissport. Participants can walk four miles or one mile.

The walk starts at 2 p.m.

Lehighton Mayor Donald Rehrig announced that trick-or-treat night will be held in the borough on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m.

Residents who want to participate are urged to have porch lights lit.

Knitting Club

From 6-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15, the Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library. The club is for all area residents interested in knitting, crocheting, and other crafts. New members are always welcome.

Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt will be sponsored by the Teen Advisory Group of the Palmerton Area Library for all ages on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Stop in the library to pick up the list of items to find while you Trick or Treat. Bring back the things you find by 7:45 p.m. for snacks and prizes.

American Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary 314 of Lehighton will hold a meeting at 6 p.m., on Oct. 8, at the legion. The meeting will be held off the big dining room. It is a dinner meeting.

Business that will be covered is honoring the past presidents.

PAHS to meet

Palmerton Area Historical Society will meet hold its general monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at the Palmerton Area Library, Knight's Gallery. The meeting will start with a brief business meeting, following by a program.

The presenters will be a panel formed by the New Jersey Zinc Company employees and chaired by Peter Kern. They will give an inside look at the New Jersey Zinc Co. with stories and anecdotes not usually known.

Trinity happenings

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton. It will be led by the Rev. Michael Frost, who serves as dean of the Hazleton/Lehighton mission district, and pastor at Zions Stone Church, New Ringgold. Worship will be led by substitute clergy during the pastoral vacancy.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 and will be led by the Rev. George Zacharda. Coffee house fellowship follows.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, Oct. 6.

There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold Service of the Word worship service at 9 a.m. The Rev. Carl G. Schweitzer will lead the service. Substitute clergy will preside during the pastoral vacancy. Coffee house fellowship follows.

A nursery will be available during the 9 a.m. worship service for children through age 6, staffed with an experienced caregiver who is trained in CPR and first aid and a youth volunteer.

Sunday School for children ages 3 through adults begins at 10:15.

Lions Club plans meeting

Palmerton Lions will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at the Palmerton Library. Members are encouraged to bring a guest and/or family member to the meeting.

Felicia Sue Anthony, a Lehighton School District student, will share her experience related to her attendance at Beacon Lodge this summer.
