The Woman's Club of Lehighton invites the public to join them at 7 p.m. this evening to meet others, visit, enjoy refreshments, and an informative talk by a representative from Bayada Nursing Care. There is no charge for the evening.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, Nov. 3. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. They also need grocery size brown paper bags. The shiny inserts are acceptable.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton will hold First Saturday worship at 5 p.m. Nov. 3.

Services will be led by the Rev. Michael Frost, who serves as dean of the Hazleton/Lehighton mission district, and pastor at Zions Stone Church, New Ringgold.

Worship will be led by substitute clergy during the pastoral vacancy.

All Saints Sunday worship with Holy Communion and recognition of the departed saints of Trinity Lutheran Church will be led by Rev. John F. Hazel, Jr., at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.

Miller-Keystone Blood Drive results

Miller-Keystone's Oct. 19 community blood drive at the First United Church of Christ drew 67 registrants, and 60 units of blood were collected. The visit was sponsored by "an anonymous friend." William Hayes reached a total of three gallons, and Donna Hopstock reached one gallon. There were three first-time donors

Beltzville Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Ss. Peter and Paul School. The agenda will include continued planning of the Old Fashioned Hay Ride and Fall Fest Oct. 27-28 at the Lehighton Canal Park and Weissport.

The Palmerton Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Halloween parade

The Palmerton Halloween Parade will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21. The rain date is Monday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

CROP Walk planned

The CROP Walk for the Lehighton/Weissport area will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Lehigh Canal Park in Weissport. Participants can walk four miles or one mile.

The walk starts at 2 p.m.

Lehighton Mayor Donald Rehrig announced that trick-or-treat night will be held in the borough on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m.

Residents who want to participate are urged to have porch lights lit.
