PTO meeting

Palmer Elementary Schools will hold a PTO meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the S.S. Palmer Elementary School.

Community meal

St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, will hold its monthly community meal from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Please plan to join in this free meal featuring lemon-pepper chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, green beans and dirt cake.

Historical society meeting

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold is monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Knight's Gallery of the Palmerton Library.

Carol O'Brien will be the featured speaker, talking about antiques and how to look for clues to help determine how old a piece is and its value. She will have examples to discuss.

Carol grew up in Lehighton but lived in Sacramento, California, for 40 years, where she appraised antiques both privately and for the American Cancer Society, which raised over $1 million.

Blood Drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct a Palmerton-area community blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall.

This drive is sponsored by Joyce Martin, Nancy Nothstein and Paula Semmel in memory of Jean Behler, a longtime blood drive volunteer.

The Palmerton area is fortunate to have a number of loyal donors who show up for nearly every drive. However, more donors are always needed to replace those who are ill or away.

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9 a.m. and includes an infant baptism. Designated pastor the Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday school classes meet for students ages 3 through grade 12 at 10:30 a.m. Level 1 and 11 (grades seven and eight) confirmation classes meet at 10:30.

There will be "Spring Fling" for students in grades 1-4 immediately following classes until 1 p.m. in the youth room. Lunch will be served and time for games.

Palmerton High School blood drive

A late-season snow April 1 caused a two-hour delay at Palmerton High School, shortening the Miller-Keystone blood drive for students and staff. As a result, registration was limited to 44 potential donors, and 36 units of blood were collected.

Holy Week services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton: 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday worship with Holy Communion, and Good Friday Tenebrae at 7 p.m. Friday. Designated pastor the Rev. Nancy Moore presides.

First Saturday/Vigil of Easter with Holy Communion and baptism at 5 p.m. The Rev. Michael Frost, pastor at Zion's Stone Church, New Ringgold, presides.

Easter Sunday worship with Holy Communion, 8 and 10 a.m. the Rev. Moore presides. There will be no Sunday school or confirmation classes. Classes resume April 12.
