Miller Blood Drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct its bimonthly Palmerton community blood drive on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall. Registration hours are 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by Larry and Sharon Engle, and Janet Snyder.

Blood can also be donated to a specific person. Ask the registrar for a dedication card.

High school students who did not donate at the school in November can donate on Dec. 19, and still be eligible to donate at the school in late February.

Christmas program at St. Peter Church

St. Peter Evangelical Congregational Church, 177 Main Road, Lehighton, will present a Christmas program, "This is Christmas," at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. The program includes an instrumental program and children's presentation. The church is handicapped accessible, with easy access by wheelchair.

Christmas Cantata

Faith Alive Choir will present its annual Christmas Cantata on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.

The Cantata, entitled, "Only Love," is a soprano, alto, tenor and bass mosaic of voices and events that reshaped the course of human history.

Christmas in the Park

Lehighton Area Council of the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce will present "Christmas in the Park," an Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration on Friday, Dec. 7 from 6-7:30 p.m.

The event will be held at the bandshell in the upper park in Lehighton. Rain or shine.

Santa Claus will arrive at 6:30 p.m.

Paul Smith and the Lehighton Band will provide musical entertainment with favorite Christmas Carols while Senior Girl Scout Troop 583 provides the hot cocoa.

Christmas party invitation

The Woman's Club of Lehighton invites the public to join them at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 for an early Christmas Party. Meet others in the community, enjoy music, refreshments, and visit neighbors. The program will include "Light of the Spirit" musical selections for fun, the soul, and spirit by the ukulele duo Syani (Sy Kipp and Judith Greig, whose website is syani2.com).

Santa arrives

Santa Claus will be arriving in Palmerton and will greet the children in the Palmerton Borough Park on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library on Monday, Dec. 3, from 6-8 p.m. The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels. The club meets the first and third Monday of each month.

Trinity Happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., will hold a worship service with Holy communion and children's' sermon at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25. The service will be led by the Rev. George P. Zacharda. Christ the King Sunday is the last Sunday of Pentecost, the Church's "New Year's Eve." The Christian calendar begins Advent next week. Coffee house fellowship follows the worship service.

Thanksgiving eve services offered

Faith Alive United Methodist Church, 678 Pine St., Bowmanstown, will offer a Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Advent services will be held every Wednesday at 7 p.m., including Dec. 19. For parents' convenience, a kids Advent Club will be offered during Advent services for children ages 6-10, which will include lessons, crafts and snacks. For more information, call (610) 852-2805.

Lehighton AMVETS will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Lehighton V.F.W. All members are encouraged to attend.

Thanksgiving dinner offered

Faith Alive United Methodist Church, 678 Pine St., Bowmanstown, will hold a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the church. Everyone is welcome.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the meal will be served from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be no takeouts available.

Homebound delivery must be arranged ahead of time. Transportation is available if necessary.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St, Lehighton will hold a 9 a.m. Sunday worship service with Holy Communion, children's sermon and infant baptism, led by the Rev. David A. Newman. Coffee house fellowship follows.

A nursery will be available during the 9 a.m. worship service for children through age 6, staffed with an experienced caregiver who is trained in CPR & first aid and a youth volunteer.

There will be no Sunday School Power Hour on Nov. 18 in order for church members to attend the annual congregational meeting starting at 10:30 a.m.
