St. John's

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning will hold its Worship Service on Sunday, June 17, at 9 a.m. Graduates will be recognized.

The 4-H Sewing Club will meet at the church on Monday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Prayer Shawl meeting will be held Tuesday, June 19, at 1 p.m.

4-H Woodburning Club meets Tuesday, June 19, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Jammin for Jesus meets Wednesday, June 20, from 6:45-7:15 p.m.

4-H Scrapbooking Club meets Thursday, June 21, from 6:30-8 p.m.

Food Pantry

The Palmerton Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, June 15. The pantry is located at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. For information call (610) 826-4335.

Park concert

At 7 p.m., Sunday, June 17, Shake, Rattle and Soul will perform in the Palmerton Borough Park. Bring your own lawn chair.

In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave. Next week, June 24, the concert will be by Who Knows.

Summer Reading Program

A Summer Reading Program at the Palmerton Area Library: Dream Big Read! will be held Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. from June 14 through July 26 for Preschool Circle Time (ages 3-5) and includes stories, music and more.

Summer Reading Club (grades K-6) includes stories, games, crafts and more, and will be held Fridays at 10:30 a.m. from June 15 through July 27.

The Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will be at the library on Friday, June 15, with lots of nighttime animals.

There is no Summer Reading in the first week of July.

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning will hold its Worship Service on Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Sunday School will be going to Knoebel's on Sunday, June 10 after worship service. Bring a covered dish. Sunday School will provide hot dogs and drinks.

The 4-H Sewing Club will meet at the church on Tuesday, June 11, from 9 a.m. until noon.

The council meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center

The Miller-Keystone Blood Center will run its bimonthly community blood drive on Tuesday, June 12, at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall. Registration hours are 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by William and Marilyn Kissner.

Previous donors can expect an email and/or phone call reminder, asking them to make an appointment. Those with appointments are given priority at registration; however, walk-ins are always welcome.

Vacation Bible School planned

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will host a community Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8:30 p.m., June 17-21 (Sunday through Thursday).

The theme is "Operation Overboard: Dare to go Deep with God."

It is free and open to children in the community 3 years old through grade six. Registration is necessary.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, June 2. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Beltzville Lions will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 at Ss. Peter and Paul School Hall. Members should note the change of date.

LALLC to meet

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe.

Lions are encouraged to invite a guest or family member to attend the dinner.

Installation of officers will occur.
