Outdoor service

People's EC Church, 216 Wagner Street in Franklin Township, will hold an outdoor church service on July 20 at 10:30 a.m.

The service will include the music of Navada's Loft, featuring Donna Parsons.

The service and concert are free, with a love offering being collected for Navada's Loft.

Following the concert, a $5 lunch will be available, with all proceeds benefiting the teen mission trip in 2015.

The lunch will feature drawings for prizes, games and music.

Successful Blood Drive

Although Miller-Keystone Blood Center lowered its goal for the June 30 community blood drive from the usual 65 to 58, 72 faithful donors registered. Sixty units of blood were collected.

This visit was sponsored by Charles and Kathleen Behler, and Michael and Corene Musaga, in memory of Jean Behler.

Knitting Club

The Palmerton Area Library Knitting Club will meet 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The club is open to anyone wishing to learn to knit or crochet, or who needs help with a project. The club is free and materials will be provided. The group meets the first and third Mondays of each month.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are invited for a free meal and fellowship.

Trinity happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., begins at 9 a.m., includes blessing of the assembled prayer shawls and Service of Healing.

The Service of Healing with prayers and the "laying on of hands" is said for those with emotional, physical, spiritual burdens to help one's loads become lightened.

Guest pastor, the Rev. Diane Kareha, presides.

Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Senior center

The Palmerton Senior Center, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, serves lunch daily at 11:30 a.m. from Monday through Friday. For lunch reservations, call the day before by 9:30 a.m.

Activities include pinochle, penny games, and bingo.

Writers group

A writers group will meet from 10:30 a.m. until noon Tuesday, July 1.

The group is open to all published and aspiring authors of romance and mystery fiction.

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, located on North Street in Lehighton, will offer Sunday worship with interim pastor, the Rev. Marlin Lafferty, at 10:45 a.m. Sunday school classes are at 9:30 a.m. for all ages, including the adult class.

On Tuesday at 10 a.m. is Ladies Bible study; at 7 p.m. Wednesday is the prayer meeting.

Looking ahead, Vacation Bible School, for ages 4-12 will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 7 through July 11.

The theme will be "International Spy Academy, Training Agents for One True God!"

Guest pastor, the Rev. James Zeigenfus, presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. is the start of "Weird Animals ... Where Jesus' Love is One-of-a-Kind" combined Vacation Bible School with St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning held at Trinity. Weird Animals is a habitat filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences.

Park concert

A free concert by King Henry, sponsored by Horsehead Community Development Fund, will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Palmerton Borough Park bandstand. Please bring a lawn chair.

In case of inclement weather, the Bandstand Committee reserves the right to cancel the concert.

Next week's concert, on June 29, will be Crazy Hearts.
