Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St, Lehighton, will hold worship the First Saturday with Holy Communion at 5 p.m. The Rev. Michael Frost, pastor at Zion's Stone Church, New Ringgold, presides.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, will be held at 9 a.m., includes recognition of graduating students. Interim pastor the Rev. Donald Hayn presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

First Tuesday "Quiet Communion" is at 10 a.m. June 4.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet from 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 3, and Monday, June 17, at the Palmerton Area Library. The club is free, and new members are always welcome.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, June 1. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m. Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will celebrate Sunday worship with holy communion at 9 a.m. Interim minister Rev. Donald Hayn presides. Coffee fellowship follows.

The church office will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.

Community Vacation Bible School is planned for June 16-20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for youngsters ages 3 through grade six. The theme is "Everywhere Fun Fair. Where God's World Comes Together." Call the church office at (610) 377-4303 to register your child's age. Registration is free.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold Pentecost Sunday worship with holy communion at 9 a.m. Interim pastor, the Rev. Donald Hayn will preside at the Rite of Confirmation for six young people. The teens completed two years of religious instruction in order to reach this milestone in their lives. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes are completed; regular classes will resume in September.

American Folk Fest

Lehighton elementary students will present a chime ensemble, "American Folk Fest," at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Pleasant Trees; and at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the Lehighton Elderly High Rise.

East Penn Concert

East Penn Elementary School will present its Spring Concert at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 at the school. Taking part will be kindergarten through second grade.

Lehighton Legion Auxiliary Post 314 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Lehighton Legion Post 314. It is scholarship night and a luncheon will be served.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold seventh Sunday of Easter worship featuring music from the Trinity Praise Band, starting at 9 a.m. The Rev. Guy Grube will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School Power Hour meets at 10:15 a.m. Special activities are planned for ages 3 through grade 12 as this will be the final session before the summer break begins.

On Pentecost Sunday, May 19, six young people will receive the Rite of Confirmation during the 9 a.m. worship service.

The Palmerton Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, May 17. The food pantry is located at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, Palmerton. For information, call (610) 826-4335.

Senior Center

The Palmerton Senior Center will be closed from May 7-16 because of the Senior Games.

Library Board

The Palmerton Library board of directors will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the library. The meeting is open to the public.

Chestnut Ridge Seniors

The Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet on Thursday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. They will be celebrating Mother's Day with prizes for mothers. They will be serving BBQ and ice cream for lunch. They're asking for donations of cakes.
