Beltzville Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 26 , at Ss. Peter and Paul School Hall, Third and Coal streets, Lehighton. Anyone interested in learning more about Lions is invited to attend the meeting.

Book mark contest

Palmerton Area Library is sponsoring a book mark contest for kids from preschool through grade 6. If your child did not receive an entry form from school, stop in the library to pick one up. Winning entries in three age categories will be printed as bookmarks and distributed at the library for the next year. Winners will also receive prizes from the library. Book mark designs are due in the library by Wednesday, April 11. Winners will be announced on Friday, April 13.

Palmerton Over 60 Club will meet at noon on Tuesday, March 20, at Palmerton Borough Hall, 401 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

The program will be bingo and cards.

Palmerton Lions to meet

Palmerton Lions will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 19 at the Fireline Hotel.

Lenten services

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran and Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville; Salem United Church of Christ, Gilbert; Salem-St. Paul Lutheran, Kresgeville; and St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, join together for Lenten services. Tonight, services will be held at Salem United Church of Christ, with guest preacher, Pastor William Ellsworth. Wednesday, March 14 services will be at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, with guest preacher, Pastor Deborah Scheffey.

'Fireproof' movie night planned

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2430 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive, West, Lehighton, will hold a free movie night by offering the movie, "Fireproof," at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The church is located three-quarters of a mile west of Normal Square on Route 443. For additional information call (570) 386-4547. All are welcome. Refreshments follow the movie.

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club will meet at 6 p.m. March 8 at the Carbon Career and Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe. Members are asked to note the change in the meeting date.

Roxanne Downs, director at the Blue Mountain Health System Adult Day Care Center, will be the guest speaker.

Lions are encouraged to invite a guest or family member to attend the dinner.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, March 3. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas, beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Faith Alive Church

Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22, Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Bowmanstown, is offering a seven-week children's group, which will include Bible lessons, crafts, activities, and snacks. The group will run from 7-8 p.m. There is no cost. It will meet for six weeks on Wednesdays and one Thursday. Interested parents should contact the church at (610) 852-2805.
