Lehighton Bible Church events

Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center streets, Packerton, will hold Prison Ministry at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carbon County Prison.

Bowling at the Slate Bowl will be held at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Valley Pizza in Walnutport.

Weekly Wednesday services are held at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday services are held at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

LALLC board meeting

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 in the community room at the Blue Mountain Health System Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital campus.

Board members who are unable to attend are asked to notify President Kimberly Babcock before the meeting.

Lehighton Area School District announced the following elementary school students were named Art Students of the Month for December.

At Franklin Elementary School: kindergarten, Kiley Mensch; first grade, Nasir Ervine; second, Brady O'Donnell; third, Tanley Laczo; and fourth, Isabella Hoffman.

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, North Street, Lehighton, will hold Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. for all ages; morning worship, 10:45 a.m. Kid's Club for children kindergarten through fourth grades is held every Monday at 6 p.m.; prayer meeting is every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Wrapped in prayer ministry is every Friday at 7 p.m.

Holy Trinity Happenings

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship services with Holy Communion at 8 and 10:45 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 19.

Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. The 10:45 a.m. service will be a brief service so as to allow time for the annual congregational meeting, which will follow the service.

Holy Trinity Circle of Angels will be participating in the Polar Plunge of 2014, to be held Jan. 18 at Scott's Park at Larry Holmes Drive and 3rd Street, Easton. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the plunge will be at noon.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold "Baptism of Our Lord" Sunday worship with holy communion at 9 a.m. Music will be provided by Trinity Praise Band. Included in the worship time will be recognition of 2013 baptisms. Interim pastor the Rev. Don Hayn will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes meet for students ages 3 through grade 12 at 10:30 a.m.

The annual congregational meeting follows the worship service next Sunday. Sunday School classes will not meet Jan. 19.

Show and Tell

As has been the custom for the last several years, the Monday, Jan. 13 meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will feature "Show and Tell," with participants bringing antique or unusual items for the audience to try and identify.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Knight's Gallery of the Palmerton Area Library with a short business session, followed by the program. The public is invited to attend. There is no charge.

Newspaper drive

Members of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, Jan. 4. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, will begin at 9 a.m., which includes installation of congregational council members for 2014. Interim pastor, the Rev. Don Hayn, will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes for students ages 3 through grade 12 will be held at 10:30 a.m.

First Tuesday quiet communion will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 7.
