LALLC to meet

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the home of Pamela Gothard on Forest Inn Road, Lehighton. Baked ziti will be served and members are asked to provide dessert and/or a side dish.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold 15th Sunday after Pentecost worship at 9 a.m. Sept. 1 with Holy Communion. The church is air-conditioned. Interim pastor, the Rev. Donald Hayn, will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

The weekly Sunday School sessions begin with Rally Day activities for children ages 3 through grade 12 will begin at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 8. Parents are welcome to stay for songs from Vacation Bible School and overview of the curriculum. Fourth-grade students each will receive a Bible.

Blood Drive results

Miller-Keystone Blood Center's community blood drive in Palmerton on Aug. 26 drew 69 potential donors, and 63 units were collected. This included blood components on the Trima machines and whole blood donations. This visit was sponsored by the Kern and Hoffman families, in memory of Jean Behler, a longtime volunteer.

The following donors reached gallon levels: Dale Smith, 7 gallons; Donald E. Berger, 6 gallons; Mary Eckhart, 4 gallons; Christine Eckhart and Robert Kresge, 1 gallon each. There were three first-time donors.

Lehigh Canal Commission to meet

The Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at the pavilion at the Weissport trail head. The public is invited.

Lehighton Bible Church

Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center streets, Lehighton, will host a Men's breakfast and time of fellowship at 8 a.m. Saturday Aug. 24 at the Beacon 443 Diner.

There will be combined services with Pastor Mike Marcheskie and the Shamokin Bible Church at Lehighton Bible Church at 10 a.m. at the church with a luncheon at Lehighton Orioles following the morning service. There also will be a 3 p.m. service at Lehighton Orioles followed by an evening cookout.

Prison Ministry will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday Aug. 25 at the Carbon County Prison.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold the 14th Sunday after Pentecost worship at 9 a.m. The Rev. Guy Grube presides.

The church is air-conditioned. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Looking ahead at Trinity is the return of weekly Sunday School for ages 3 through grade 12. Rally Day will be held at 10:15 a.m., Sept. 8. Activities include songs from Vacation Bible School, overview of new curriculum for students, and fourth graders will receive their own personal Bibles. Parents are welcome to attend. Adult class begins as well.

Heritage Center

The new display in the feature room of the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, features artifacts of the New Jersey Zinc Company. The center is open various hours Wednesday through Saturday each week.

Courage to Change Al-Anon Family Group will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

Free community dinner

All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, will host a free community dinner from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. The menu is chicken Parmesan with noodles and watermelon for dessert. All are welcome.

Kick-A-Thon benefits DCT

Students at Mountain Karate Academy will be "Kicking for the Kids" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Carbon Plaza Mall. The event, which includes, forms and individual performances, will benefit Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter.
