Trinity happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., includes baptism for a baby girl and begins at 9 a.m. Guest pastor, the Rev. Richard Baumann, presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Looking ahead to September will mark the start of weekly Sunday School classes for young people ages 3 though grade 12 at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 7. The date printed in last week's column was incorrect.

Special Rally Day activities will take place in Luther Hall.

Park concert

The final Concert in the Park is a rescheduled concert. The group Remember When will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Palmerton Borough Park Bandstand.

Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening. This concert is sponsored by the Palmerton Concourse Club.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave. Palmerton. Enjoy a meal and fellowship.

All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, will host a free community dinner from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 21. All are welcome for the meal and fellowship.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Palmerton Area Library.

The club is open to anyone wishing to learn to knit or crochet, or who needs help with a project. It is free and materials will be provided.

The group meets the first and third Monday of each month.

Senior center

The Palmerton Senior Center, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, serves lunch daily at 11:30 a.m. from Monday through Friday.

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. 3rd St., begins at 9 a.m. Trinity Praise Band vocalists Steve Schweitzer and Brian Hoffner will offer special music.

Guest pastor, the Rev. Richard Baumann, will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Members of Trinity plus St. John's, Mahoning Township, and Dinkey Memorial, Ashfield, will be volunteering at a booth during Bike Nite on Saturday, handing out bottles of water and prayer shawls for free.

Community Meal

A free community meal will be served by St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 12.

The menu will be pesto chicken, roasted potatoes, corn, and desserts, and is all about feeding people and reaching out to people who live alone and need the fellowship of dining with others; people who need a break from cooking all the time; or people who can't afford to eat out.

No matter the reason, everyone is invited to the monthly meal.

The Smith Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, July 27, at St. Matthew's Church grove, Kunkletown.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., and the program will be at 1:30 p.m.

Enjoy an afternoon of activities, including games and cakewalk.

The Palmerton Senior Center will be closed Wednesday for a trip to the Pines Dinner Theater.
