Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., starts at 9 a.m. Guest pastor the Rev. Jerry Smith presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Free yoga sessions are available Friday afternoons, 2-3 p.m. Enter at the Third Street office door to go to the youth room.

Bring your own mat and water. No baby-sitting service is available.

First Tuesday quiet Communion is 10 a.m. June 2.

Palmerton Camera Club meeting

The Palmerton Camera Club will hold a macro photography workshop at 7:30 p.m. May 28 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton.

Meetings are open to the public.

Bring your camera and tripod to the meeting for an evening of macro work.

Good macro photography is not simply standing close to the subject and pressing the button. The general rules of macro photography are really only guidelines to get you started. There is room for lots of experimentation and imagination.

Sunday school closing program for students ages 3 through grade 12 starts at 10:30 in Luther Hall. Classes resume in September.

Blood drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center's community blood drive on May 4 drew 59 registrants. It was sponsored by Joyce Martin, Nancy Nothstein and Paula Semmel in memory of Jean Behler, a longtime blood drive volunteer.

The following donors reached various gallon levels: Kyle Ahner, 11 gallons; Richard Bobal, 8 gallons; Robert Stevenson, 6 gallons (in Palmerton); Mary Eckhart, 5 gallons; William Hayes and Shirley Kuntz, 4 gallons; William Gallagher, 3 gallons; Brent Green, 1 gallon.

Franklin Township

Senior citizens meeting

Franklin Senior Citizens meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on May 20 at Jacob's United Church of Christ, 138 Franklin St, Weissport. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month.

All are welcome.

Lunch will be included. Play four or six handed pinochle or Kings on the Corner.

Palmer Elementary Schools will hold a PTO meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the S.S. Palmer Elementary School.

Community meal

St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, will hold its monthly community meal from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Please plan to join in this free meal featuring lemon-pepper chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, green beans and dirt cake.

Historical society meeting

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will hold is monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Knight's Gallery of the Palmerton Library.

Carol O'Brien will be the featured speaker, talking about antiques and how to look for clues to help determine how old a piece is and its value. She will have examples to discuss.

Carol grew up in Lehighton but lived in Sacramento, California, for 40 years, where she appraised antiques both privately and for the American Cancer Society, which raised over $1 million.

Blood Drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct a Palmerton-area community blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall.

This drive is sponsored by Joyce Martin, Nancy Nothstein and Paula Semmel in memory of Jean Behler, a longtime blood drive volunteer.

The Palmerton area is fortunate to have a number of loyal donors who show up for nearly every drive. However, more donors are always needed to replace those who are ill or away.
