Slatington Lions Club

The Slatington Lions Club will hold a meeting at the Moose at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6. The speaker will be Meg Schell, from the Lehigh Township Rails to Trails Project.

The Lions Annual Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Moose.

Lions birthday wishes go out to Simon Bandzi (Dec. 1) and Rodney LaBarre (Dec. 2).

Slatington Lions Club

The Slatington Lions club is in need of trucks, trailers and manpower for its annual Christmas tree sale. On Nov. 25, at 9 a.m., the club will meet and setup at the storage garage, and on Nov. 26, at 9 a.m., they will pick up trees, and will need trucks and trailers.

Members are needed to work two-hour shifts when the lot is open. Lions who would like to commit to some hours may email popcrazy2@msn.com, or call (610) 767-8280.

Lion Carl Peters will celebrate his birthday on Nov. 22.

NL Halloween Parade rescheduled

The 104th annual Greater Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.

Sponsored by the Northern Lehigh Events Committee, the parade will form at 4:30 p.m. at South and Main Street in Slatington. From there, it will follow Main Street through Slatington, over the General Morgan Bridge, and continue into Walnutport, where it will then turn onto Lincoln Avenue.

Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade

Sponsored by the Northern Lehigh Events Committee, the 104th annual Northern Lehigh parade will start at 6 p.m. Saturday. The parade will form at 5 p.m. at South and Main streets in Slatington. From there, it follows Main Street through Slatington, over the General Morgan Bridge, and continues into Walnutport, where it then turns onto Lincoln Avenue. Walking groups and small floats are picked up at the Walnutport Playground, while large floats pull into the shopping center parking lot for unloading.

Slatington Public Library

The Slatington Public Library has books for all ages in regular print, large print and audio (on cassette and CD), movies (on VHS and DVD), as well as magazines. All can be borrowed for free. The library also has 14 computers available with Internet access, as well as 100 years worth of Slatington history available in the Slatington News (1868-1969), which can also be used for free. The library also has a new area available for programs or presentations.

Walnutport Canal Association

The 31st annual Walnutport Canal Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday along the historic Lehigh Canal in Walnutport.

The festival is a mix of education and entertainment, and the profits realized enable it to fund projects to improve the canal and adjoining structures.

This year's festival includes musical groups, as well as many first time highlights. Over the course of the weekend, over 100 volunteers will be thanked who make this event happen.

The Gathering

The Gathering will be held from 1 p.m. until close on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Trout Run Covered Bridge in Slatington/Washington Township, rain or shine.

There will be music, food, beverages, vendors and crafters, and The Great Slatington Duck Race

Duck Certificates are available at the Northern Lehigh Historical Society stand.

There will be a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Slatington Public Library

Look for the library's table at the Presbyterian Church's Apple Festival. They will be having a book sale.

Slatington Memorial Park dedication set

Slatington Memorial Park, located on the site of the old Slatington High School, will be formally dedicated as part of a ceremony and free public concert on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 4-6 p.m.

The park is located at Main & Second streets in Slatington.
