Annual reorganization meeting

On March 26, the Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool Association will hold its annual board of directors reorganization meeting in the second floor faculty room of Slatington Elementary at 7:30 p.m.

During the general meeting, they will discuss plans for the refurbishment of the main and baby pools, fundraising ideas, projected costs, and summer student employment.

Anyone interested in being a member, or helping the association, is encouraged to attend. In addition, any suggestions to improve the swimming pool facility would be appreciated.

Playground reorganizational meeting rescheduled

The Slatington Parks & Recreation Commission will host a reorganizational meeting for the West End Playground Association on Tuesday, Feb. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 28, but due to inclement weather, attendance was low.

The meeting will be held at Assumption BVM Church, 633 W. Washington St.

The Borough of Slatington acquired the West End Playground property last year, and the recreation commission is spearheading the effort to form an association at the playground.

Lions Club

The Slatington Lions Club recently met at the Moose. The speaker was Doug Yingling, from the Center for Vision Loss.

The club will hold a board meeting at the Skeet Club at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Lions celebrating birthdays include John Babyak (Feb. 5), Danny Ehrich, Jr (Feb. 5), Charles Sule (Feb. 6) and Frank Gnas (Feb. 9).

The Slatington Lions Club

The Slatington Lions Club is grateful to the community for its support of the club's major fundraisers: the annual car show, Christmas Tree sales, and comedy night.

Held the day before Labor Day at the Slatington Airport, last year's car show registered 493 cars and awarded over 100 trophies This year will be the 25th anniversary for this show, and there are plans for some interesting activities/displays.

This year, the group sold over 600 Christmas trees. High school students also helped to earn hours toward their senior project.

West End Playground Re-Organizational meeting

The Slatington Parks & Recreation Commission will host a reorganizational meeting for the West End Playground Association on Monday, Jan. 28, beginning at 7 p.m. at Assumption BVM Church, 633 W. Washington St., Slatington.

The Borough of Slatington acquired the West End Playground property last year, and the recreation commission is spearheading the effort to reform an association at the playground.

Swimming pool receives grant

The Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool has acknowledged the receipt of a $1,000 grant from the Henry L. Mickley/Mable S. Fravel Charitable Trust. The money will go toward the restoration of the diving board pedestals by the Slatington Fabricators, LLC.

On March 26, the NL Swimming Pool Association will hold its annual board of directors reorganization meeting in the facility room at Slatington Elementary at 7:30 p.m.

Slatington Tree Lighting

The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce will host the Slatington Tree Lighting starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in Slatington Memorial Park, 509 Main St., at the site of the old Slatington High School, across from Slatington Baptist Church.

Join the GNLCC for an evening of socializing, and celebrating the holiday season as a community with friends, family and fellow chamber members. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, while listening to caroling led by the Northern Lehigh Freedom Chorus. There is no charge.
