Slatington Lions Club

The Slatington Lions Club will hold an indoor meeting at the Moose at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Bethany Wesleyan Church

Adult Singles 35-and-over meet Friday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Castle for study, games and snacks. They are currently doing an Ed Young study on relationships.

"October Baby" is being shown on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Castle presented by Cord of Three Women's Ministry & Care Net of Carbon County. This movie is rated PG-13. Meet Suzi Demara as she shares the mission and view of Care Net.

A Thanksgiving Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. with a canned food drive.

Halloween parade

The 105th annual Greater Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

The parade starts in Slatington, goes down Main Street, and then goes through Walnutport, where it ends at the Walnutport Playground on Lincoln Avenue.

Walnutport Canal Festival

The Walnutport Canal Association will hold its annual Canal Festival Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20-21.

Activities will begin Saturday morning with the running of the Towpath Trot, a 6K run along the towpath. The run starts at 9:30 a.m., with registration at 8 a.m.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, at 10:45 a.m., the Slatington Baptist Church, 509 Main St., will hold a Believers Baptism for five individuals. The event is open to the public. A reception will follow.

The Gathering

The Gathering, the annual autumn community festival sponsored by the Northern Lehigh Historical Society, will be held Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.

The main festivities will be located at the Trout Run Covered Bridge along Seventh Street in Slatington, although the entire Slate Heritage Trail will be open.

Events and activities include live music throughout the day, food and beverages from area vendors, the Great Slatington Duck Race and more.

A grand fireworks display will take place at 9:30 p.m. Entertainment will continue afterward.

Antique/Collector Car Show

The Slatington Lions Club will hold its 24th annual Antique/Collector Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Slatington Airport along State Route 873. The rain date is Monday, Sept. 3.

Parking will be at Walker Bus Garage, and across the street at Emerald Dragon Karate. Parking after 11 a.m. will be in the airport.

Registration of cars is from 9 a.m. to noon.

The first 200 preregistered cars will receive a custom dash plaque, while the first 150 preregistered will receive a special participation award.
