Arts contest

The Woman's Club of Slatington held their annual Arts Contest at their monthly meeting on Jan. 17. The following is a list of student art contest winners:

Northern Lehigh Future Focus

Northern Lehigh Future Focus in planning on publishing a photo-book on Slatington/Northern Lehigh sports teams and players later this year and is in search of photographs and help with a new sports book.

As this is expected to be a large undertaking, NLFF is asking for the public's help. First and foremost, they are looking for old photos or copies of photos that they can borrow.

Kindergarten registration

Kindergarten registration in the Northern Lehigh School District will be held Jan. 24, 25, and 26 at Peters Elementary School, 4055 Friedens Rd., Slatington.

Registration is by appointment only. Please call as soon as possible for an appointment.

Call (610) 767-9827 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.

The Slatington Lions Club will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Skeet Club.

Winter recess

Northern Lehigh School District will have early dismissal at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23. Schools will remain closed for Winter Recess from Dec. 24 through Jan. 2. School resumes Monday, Jan. 3.

Crime Watch

The Slatington Crime Watch encourages visitors to attend its Christmas Open House from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Slatington Borough Hall.

The event is open to everyone in the Slatington area. There will be light refreshments, though visitors are encouraged to bring a treat to share. The Crime Watch will provide the beverages.

The Slatington Crime Watch will hold a Christmas Open House from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in the borough hall board room.

The open house will replace the group's monthly meeting. Light refreshments will be available.

The Slatington Lions Club will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Skeet Club.

The Slatington Lions Club will hold a meeting at the Moose at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. The speaker will be Nick Hawkey, who will discuss "Toys for Tots" and "Dream Come True."

Slatington Crime Watch Open House

The Slatington Crime Watch will hold a Christmas Open House from 7-8 p.m. Dec. 16 in the Slatington Borough Hall Board Room instead of its monthly meeting.

Senior CitizenProgram canceled

Due to the renovations at Slatington Elementary, the Senior Citizen Program at the school has been canceled this year.

Woman's Club of Slatington

The Woman's Club of Slatington recently hosted a speaker on Pachacuti Fair Trade and gifts. The proceeds collected from the sale of these items goes back to the third world countries were the items were made. This topic gave members a chance to start some early holiday shopping and help out the club's International Affairs department.

Slatington Public Library

The library staff is grateful for support of its Longaberger Basket Bingo. All proceeds will benefit the library. The winner of the raffle for the original painting by Donald Jones was Fran Greenzwieg.

The Wonderful World of Wildlife will be held on Dec. 18 (the third Saturday of the month). The program begins at 10 a.m. and is open to children ages 4 to fifth grade.

The library accepts book donations with the exception of encyclopedias, text books and Reader's Digest condensed books.
