The Slatington Lions Club will hold a meeting at the Moose at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. The speaker will be Nick Hawkey, who will discuss "Toys for Tots" and "Dream Come True."

Slatington Crime Watch Open House

The Slatington Crime Watch will hold a Christmas Open House from 7-8 p.m. Dec. 16 in the Slatington Borough Hall Board Room instead of its monthly meeting.

Light refreshments will be served.

Senior CitizenProgram canceled

Due to the renovations at Slatington Elementary, the Senior Citizen Program at the school has been canceled this year.

Woman's Club of Slatington

The Woman's Club of Slatington recently hosted a speaker on Pachacuti Fair Trade and gifts. The proceeds collected from the sale of these items goes back to the third world countries were the items were made. This topic gave members a chance to start some early holiday shopping and help out the club's International Affairs department.

Slatington Public Library

The library staff is grateful for support of its Longaberger Basket Bingo. All proceeds will benefit the library. The winner of the raffle for the original painting by Donald Jones was Fran Greenzwieg.

The Wonderful World of Wildlife will be held on Dec. 18 (the third Saturday of the month). The program begins at 10 a.m. and is open to children ages 4 to fifth grade.

The library accepts book donations with the exception of encyclopedias, text books and Reader's Digest condensed books.

Slatington Legion Veterans Day Service

The Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, will conduct its annual Veterans Day Services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at Union United Church of Christ, 5550 Route 873, Neffs. President of Veterans Day services Dennis Ziegler, Commander Gordon Giannotti, Auxiliary President Marcy Knappenberger and Sons of the American Legion Commander Garry Jacoby will be in charge of the services. Buglers John Hudicka and Marc Beleno will play Taps.

NL Halloween Parade

The 103rd annual Northern Lehigh Parade will be held Saturday. The parade will form at 5 p.m. Streets will be closed to traffic at 6 p.m. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m.

Slatington Crime Watch

The next meeting of the Slatington Crime Watch will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Slatington Borough Hall. Join in to hear what's happening in the area. Thanks to everyone who helped make the third annual Community Yard Sale a success. There were over 100 families that participated this year.

Please be on the lookout for any suspicious activities in the borough and call 911 immediately. There have been several issues with graffiti in the Walnut Street area and kids walking in the wet cement.

Slatington Public Library

Local historian and writer Mr. William Leickel has produced a book entitled "Business's along the Boulevard." Leickel has researched different topics involving the history of the Northern Lehigh area, some of which were the local movie theaters and the railway systems.

Slatington Crime Watch

The Slatington Crime Watch will hold its community yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine.

The Crime Watch will be having a food stand and is in need of individually wrapped baked goods that won't melt, for it to sell. Items can be dropped off at the lot any time after 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Hose Company #1, Slatington, has announced that the Firemen's Statue/Drinking Fountain located in the 500 block of Main Street, Slatington, will be rededicated and unveiled with a ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 1 p.m., as part of the statue's 100th anniversary celebration.
