American Legion Memorial Day services

On Sunday, May 29, American Legion Post 16 will be leaving the post home at 8 a.m., and the schedule of visiting cemeteries will be Williamstown Cemetery (8:10 a.m.); Jacksonville Cemetery (8:40 a.m.); New Tripoli U.C.C. Cemetery (9:15 a.m.); Heidelberg U.C.C. Cemetery (9:45 a.m.); Neff's Lutheran Cemetery (10:15 a.m.); 7th St. Catholic Church (10:45 a.m.); Union Cemetery at Delke's grave (11 a.m.); Friedens Cemetery (11:15 a.m.); Presbyterian Church Cemetery (11:45 a.m.), then back to the post home for dinner.

Sports Photo Scan-a-thon

Northern Lehigh Future Focus will publish a sports photo book later this year on Slatington/Northern Lehigh High School and select community sports teams from 1900 to the present.

As part of that effort, Future Focus has teamed up with the Slatington Library to give residents who do not want to lend their photos out, an opportunity to have them scanned onto a computer and returned immediately.

Two scan-a-thon sessions have been scheduled; the first is Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon, and the second is on Monday, May 23, from 4-7 p.m.

Slatington Lions Club

The Slatington Lions Club will hold an indoor meeting at the Moose at 6:45 p.m. May 17. Don Trexler, past district governor, will be speaking on Beacon Lodge work weekends.

Lions birthday wishes go out to Daniel Evans (May 16) and Theodore Martinez (May 17).

Guided tours at Locktender's House

The Locktender's House will be open for guided tours on Sunday, June 5 from 2-4 p.m.

Benefit Festival

The Duane J. Lucien Scholarship Foundation will hold it's annual Benefit Festival Saturday, May 21 from noon to 8 p.m. at the covered bridge along the Slate Heritage Trail, just off 7th Street in Slatington.

The fundraiser benefits the community by providing college scholarships to Northern Lehigh High School seniors.

7th annual Asher Boyer Bowl

Six person teams are now being gathered for the 7th annual Asher Boyer Bowl that will be held on Saturday, April 23, at the Slatington Bowling Center, 8123 Route 73, Slatington.

Individuals and teams are welcome to bowl. Two sessions will run from 6-8:30 and 9-11:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the Bowl go to the Asher F. Boyer Endowment Fund for Future Education, which has benefited many organizations that Asher was involved in and individuals from around the area.

The Slatington Lions Club will hold an indoor meeting at the Moose at 6:45 p.m. April 19. The meeting will include a visitation from the Venture Group.
