Walnutport Canal Association

The 31st annual Walnutport Canal Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday along the historic Lehigh Canal in Walnutport.

The festival is a mix of education and entertainment, and the profits realized enable it to fund projects to improve the canal and adjoining structures.

This year's festival includes musical groups, as well as many first time highlights. Over the course of the weekend, over 100 volunteers will be thanked who make this event happen.

The Gathering

The Gathering will be held from 1 p.m. until close on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Trout Run Covered Bridge in Slatington/Washington Township, rain or shine.

There will be music, food, beverages, vendors and crafters, and The Great Slatington Duck Race

Duck Certificates are available at the Northern Lehigh Historical Society stand.

There will be a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Slatington Public Library

Look for the library's table at the Presbyterian Church's Apple Festival. They will be having a book sale.

Slatington Memorial Park dedication set

Slatington Memorial Park, located on the site of the old Slatington High School, will be formally dedicated as part of a ceremony and free public concert on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 4-6 p.m.

The park is located at Main & Second streets in Slatington.

Slatington Memorial Park

Northern Lehigh Future Focus announces that the Slatington Memorial Park, Second and Main streets, Slatington, will be dedicated as part of a community concert/celebration from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25.

All are invited. More details will follow in upcoming weeks.

Slatington Lions Club

Help is needed for the 23rd annual Antique/Collector Car Show on Sunday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Slatington Airport on SR873. The rain date is Monday, Sept. 5. The car show is sponsored by the club.

NL Freshman Orientation Day

On Thursday, Aug. 25, Northern Lehigh High School will hold Freshman Orientation Day.

The transition from middle school to high school is often difficult for many students and the purpose of this day is to introduce the students to their new surroundings and prepare them for the final stages of their public education.
